One of my fondest memories of a shootout involves Tyutin. Can't say I agree with that statement.

Isn't Fedor Tyutin one of CBJ's better shootout players? I guess that isn't saying much. The one player I'd like to never have to see in a shootout again is Vermette barring a huge change in approach.

I have to say, we might be having some cap issues in about 3-4 years.

Second pairing defenseman, second pairing money. I'm surprised at the length of the deal ... but, to get him to sign at this rate, it was probably a necessary risk. He's been pretty durable with us so far, so if he can continue to be a second pairing guy for us, I won't hate this deal.

Hopefully he will use some of this money to GET TOUGHER ALONG THE BOARDS though ... that would make this a steal.

Agree with you here blah. Great memories for me as well. As the father of a D-man with great hands and shootout skills, it did my heart good to see him perform well in the shootout. Scoring goals just isn't his main job during games (turnovers are, right??)

Really solid deal for the Blue Jackets, I don't think he's overpaid at all.

Glad to see Toots returning with money for gas and food. I like it.

Very first piece of CBJ wear I ever bought that had a name on it was a Tyutin tee. Granted, it was because I thought his name was a riot, but I've grown quite fond of him in the meantime.

Scouting a new fav since Jake left. Currently auditioning Wiz and Tyuts.

I just hope our "core" players actually end up playing like core players

WOW he will eventually be bought out or placed in the minors because of this deal. He is the most overrated player for the cbj and a turnover machine. That first pairing is going to allow a lot of goals.

Overrated? If anything he is one of the most underrated players on the team.

I think the love he is getting on here right now proves he is not underrated at all. Just wait you will see this will blow up in our face.

This. I just don't understand the love for Tyutin. I mean its not that he isn't capable of being a decent defensemen, and he does do some good things every once in a while, he just makes so many mistakes that he just isn't worth keeping in the ice.

Don't take this thread as a gauge. Anyone who has been around this board since the trade knows the amount of dislike there is for him around here and other fans.

I was going to edit my post afterwards with that point, except let's say Johansen, Savard, Moore, Goloubef, Atkinson, Kubalik, and Calvert all reach their potential (unlikely, I know). Would the cap increase be enough to accomodate all of them if they all deserve somewhere between 3 and 6 mil? If the cap continues to go up at the rate it did this year, yes, but otherwise, Im not so sure.

That would be a great problem to have.

We would be really good if that were to happen. Then we would just trade the player(s) we wanted to trade to get a player, or players, we need/want.

Would have liked to see a 4-year deal at similar numbers, but I like having Toots back.

Hope this core delivers, because they are going to be here for awhile.
