The video mentions he's playing with Stammer and Marty. I don't think Connolly would start the season with them. We don't have time for development. He needs to be ready to go, and if he's not completely able to keep up with the two of them, he needs to be on a lower line.

Hi guys, I am also curious about Connolly. How has he looked, what has he done in camp and is it realistic that he will make the team this year? I thought it would be next year, but I'm curious if this is his year.

It's beginning to look like he'll stay up for the start of the season but I would say don't be shocked if he's sent back after his 9th game or sooner.

Has played good but about half of the time he still looks like a prospect, not a knock against him as he is a prospect still. If he can find chemistry and wrap his head around the system better in the last 2 pre-season games it will go a long way for him.

Supposedly @NorfolkAdmirals signed Craig Ludwig's son, Trevor, to a tryout contract. Wondering if his shin pads are mini-goalie pads, too.

Trevor Ludwig, a Dman, spent last year with the Texas Stars of the AHL.

Ondrej Palat was also signed by Norfolk to a tryout contract. He can return to Volts of the Q as an overage if TB or NF don't sign him.

If Connelley sticks for 9 games or even more, who is the casualty among the existing forwards? Rittola looks to be surprising everyone. Tyrell showed up in great shape. Jones is hustling. Pyatt has played well.

Is Hall the odd man out?

Tyrell won't need to go through waivers so it could be him.

While I think Tyrell has the potential to be a lower tier allstar (Kind of similar like a Brain Bradley and Modin.) and may actually hit it with us, just that future is still a ways away. Pick the best players, Connolly has way much more potential than Tyrell. If he is farther along than him as far as development, give him his roster spot. With that said, Tyrell wont stay down in Norfolk for long.

A consideration to take into account is that the Lightning are heavy in right handed shooters on the wing.

Downie, Purcell, Shannon, Hall, Jones, potentially Connolly as well.

Factor in that Marty likes to play RW, and there might be a problem.

We saw the significance of this type of thing last season with Hedman, and how he never really took to playing RD as well as we'd liked him to.

The guys bubble guys who stick then will probably be the best, or at least most versatile in terms of being off-wing, etc.

I can understand that. Some times though, playing the off side can be the players preference what they feel most comfortable with. I'm a right handed shot, but I much perfer to play LD than RD. So who knows?

Think so, Hes a dangerous threat. We already have a powerful offense, but when a kid comes along that can make a strength even stronger, you tend to jump on it.

I scored both Connolly and Nikita Kucherov in my dynasty league that just started this summer. So I'm hoping they both hit the big time for you guys.

Sounds like Connolly might give me a few points as soon as this season. I was figuring he'd be going back to junior for sure.

Hope to see Connolly keep it up. Would love to see another weapon with Stamkos and Marty.

Lightning GM Yzerman said final cuts likely not till Tues. Roster deadline is 3 p.m. Wed but players who need waivers must be on by Tues.

Lightning D Ohlund (knee) will see doctor tomorrow. IR is possible. If so, that adds roster leeway to keep prospect Connolly at least 9 games.

Oilers fan here,

I was offered a deal in my keeper league where I was offered a package including Tyler Johnson.
Do Lightning fans think he will amount to anything? I noticed he was undrafted, was he signed only for his stats?

In 2 preseason AHL games he has scored 1G 2A and been a star in both games. Its a good start, I won't say he is definetly going to amount to anything, but he is starting off well!

TB knew what kind of talent they were getting w/ Connolly when they drafted him. also obviously were aware the health concerns that went along with it. connolly still has some work to do, even though he has shown very well in camp/preseason. thing is he wont be on opening night roster because hes not quite ready for the grind of an 82 game season. its a nice thing to finally have some depth in our prospect system, and next year, assuming connolly continues to progress upward, i see him as a lock for our top six. Yzerman and Boucher both love this kid and want whats best for his career long term, which would be one more year of seasoning.
