sean fitzgerald of the national post tweeted an hour ago that a body was found @ one king west @ 1:30 pm today and the death is not considered suspicious by the police

this implies to me that the police think its either suicide or natural causes with the latter being unlikely with a 35 y/o newly retired professional athlete

belak had a chronic, degenerative situation with his pelvis and its hard not to think that training and practicing for battle of the blades, combined with medication for his pelvis i.e. painkillers, and reports that he was on the town last night may have led to a toxic situation when he returned home

very, very sad.... i'll never forget when he fought janssen to avenge the kaberle concussion, loved those belak chants

That video (of his family) just pushed me over the edge, officially just shed a few tears. Heart-breaking.

Regardless of whether that's the truth or not, it's unconfirmed and a classless piece of journalism. To beat people to the punch without putting his own name to it is a gutless move. He's a piece of s h*i t that can ONLY be employed by the Sun. He has no integrity, he's a tabloid POS writer.

I broke down when i saw the picture of him blowing kiss to the little girl (daughter?) behind the glass. I feel horrible for his family.

Sad news.

This seems to be similar to stories in pro wrestling and football. Likely all concussion related.

Probably wont be the last death we hear about in the NHL.

Simmonds has always been classless. Guy couldn't wait to jump out there and proclaim that. Sadly can't do more than I already do in not reading a damn thing he writes.

The Toronto Sun is reporting Wade Belak's death as a suicide. According to our news department, he hung himself.
Unbelievable.

Rest in peace.

Goes to show you never really know people... This guy seemed like someone who loved life.

Someone else said it too, I literally felt sick to my stomach when I first heard.

Another enforcer dies young. Maybe it's time for the NHL to find out why these guys are dropping like flies?

RIP, and my condolences out to his family.

You know , it would be a very classy move if before the season opener starts that they have a video tribute at the ACC of Boogard , Rypien and Belak , and hopefully the fans can chant ''BELAK'' one last time..

Without a doubt they will have some type of tribute to Belak at The ACC.

Ian Robertson at the Sun has updated his previous article to include the following...

Belak killed himself, according to sources.

Wow...this is unreal if true.

You can pretty much count on that, in fact I won't be surprised if that happens league wide.

Pretty shocked here.

If he did in fact commit suicide, the tribute will be very short.
