Given how spotty the reports on this have been so far, I'm optimistic that this is just some sort of sick joke.
Regardless, the NHL needs to really look in the mirror after this summer. It's clear that a lot of guys in this league are fighting personal demons and you have to think there's more that can be done to create awareness and provide help. I know there are currently programs set up to deal with these things, but it needs to become less taboo.
this is legit, it's on several sites including all of QMI's (Toronto Sun etc...say what you will they don't report deaths when they're not true)
RIP Wade, a great character, his goal celebrations were something to behold, ditto on interviews
Some media outlets reported Pat Burns had passed away and he had to call in and tell people he was still alive, however, that was mostly twitter rumors and some sites decided to roll with that as their source.
in any case if he is dead then R.I.P Wade Belak
PS:
i hope the higher ups can see that there is something wrong with all these things happening over just this year.
This is ****ed up. 3 players died in the last few months and all of them were enforcers.
You're not kidding. I'm a Sabres fan...and can't stand the Leafs...but in a situation like this, you HAVE to put the animosity aside and pay your respects. And I will do so.
Another member of the Tough Guy Club, Paul Bissonnette, tweeted this(spelling error his, not mine): "Aweful news about Wade Belak. Great personality in the game of hockey. Heard nothing but good things about him from guys he played with." When some moron tweeted that it was just a matter of time before BizNasty met the same fate, Paul's response was..."Show some class...Comments like that are just arrogant." He also added that any other comments in that vein would get you blocked....and it wasn't the ONLY stupid comment he got, so he retweeted it in an attempt to stop it. It worked.
