They are speculating suicide, so that's two in a row. Boogaard was accidential...mix of Oxicodine and alchohol.
Actually, the Toronto Sun is the only one who reported suicide and I think they changed it. They're now speculating it was accidental overdose to pain meds.

Listening to TSN Radio, one of the host's said he saw Belak at dinner last night and he looked fine, so I know it sucks to speculate but it is pretty much known it was suicide or accidental/purposeful overdose.
What? I don't even know... I was just laughing at his tweet a couple of days ago. His twitter account seems normal, just insane >.< There's just no reason for anyone to ever do this.

Listening to TSN Radio and idiot Claude Lemieux tried to blame fighting....Fighting has been in the NHL for years but only in the past year have we lost guys like this...before it was John Kordic...and that was really it.....
I am not saying that fighting doesn't lead to brain trauma and that it takes a toll, but why would all of a sudden this happen when fighting has been around for years?
Crowder, Johnson, Brennan, Flinn, Rychel, McSorley, Semenko, Welles, McKenna, Grimson, Baumgartner are all alive and well...and that is just two decades of Kings enforcers...not 40+ years worth.

I'm not arguing either side, but there have been quite a few new drugs introduced into the world over the last decade or two.

Its not the fighting that's killing these guys. Its the effect of the fighting. Physically and Mentally. Its well noted that these guys don't make the big money. Someone find the highest paid enforcer. These guys go out there and fight other guys who are just as powerful as each other. They get hurt. They don't have the luxury like most players to take a day off because they are more then likely going to loose their spot on the team or something like that(Likely their own fear.) They load up on these powerful pain medications that literally don't work but are still dangerous chemically. Specially on these guys they don't work well because of how big they are. A Norco might knock my wife the **** out, but that same Norco in pill form doesn't do anything to me not even a sweat.
Speaking as a former drug addict and current alcoholic I will share a tid bit. Now what do they do? I am taking this pill with water and it isn't working. The next step is Snorting the pill. The next would be shooting... but we don't know these guys PERSONALLY so you never know what the hell they are doing or how they are hiding it. There is such things as self medicating and its not a ****ing science. I don't feel comfortable using one of these guys names so I will use a name that I will pick as "T" . T takes his Pain medication like he does on a daily basis. T then takes his depression medicine like he does on a daily basis. Sits down to have a few cold ones like he does on a daily basis. And then after a while it becomes self medicating. This is what makes T feel better and he has been doing it for a while and to his knowledge he has never had any problems with it. Then like that its done and OVER with.
I was a Meth user for 6 years. After Middle School and High school I needed to work and staying up for 48 to 72 hours not only would I look weird and strung out but I also couldn't function in my job so I decided that I needed to find something to help me sleep. I found Temazepam a sleeping pill. For 3 years like clock work I used my Meth and I would take a Temazepam to sleep at night. I never had a problem in almost 3 years. But one day 4 in the morning something is wrong I call for help and I get to the hospital in the middle of an overdose and WHAT SAVES MY LIFE? METH but in the hospital they have a Cooler name for it. My heart was failing and they needed hospital meth to speed up my heart function. I was lucky I woke up... most of these cases these guys don't even feel it and don't even wake up. ADDICTION is a CRAZY CRAZY CRAZY thing and IT NEVER EVER GOES away. After my wake up call, I stopped for 6 years. What happens? Gallbladder needs to be removed they give you a taste so you arnt in pain and suddenly your drowning in bottles of whiskey and tequila and its just a bigger problem.
Not angry at your comment it just kinda hit close to home. Personally when these things happen to anyone it hits way to close. Because its never going to be the last time.
