7-0 is an amazing start, no question. But is it just me or do the Sharks look incredibly slow so far this year? I haven't seen the jump in Marleau or Havlat's skates. Especially Havlat, he looks like Couture out there! Can't wait for Burns to come back, for numerous reasons (his skating being one of them). Maybe I'm crazy, but it just seems their speed thru the neutral zone hasn't been what I was expecting

I take it you have only seen the last three games including tonight's?
Well no, I've seen them all, but you make a valid point. Just seems like something that occurs 4 straight games shouldn't be brushed off as a "bad night". This is especially true in a shortened season

It doesn't really matter. It's a shortened season. You still will have streaks of good and bad play. That will never change.

In his defense, I noticed the same thing, too.
The Ducks completely outskated them last week, and they looked pretty slow against the Oilers and Preds, too.
They looked like they had a lot of speed over the first 4 games, but that could've also been a byproduct of getting a fresh start to the season coupled with playing some non-playoff teams (Flames, Oilers, Avs).
I wouldn't have thought much of it, but this is the same kind of on-ice sluggishness they displayed a lot down the stretch and in the playoff series against the Blues last year, rather than the faster puck-controlling Sharks teams of season's past who would dominate zone time and the shot clock.
Which Sharks team is going to show up for the remainder of the season? Which of these games are the real Sharks.....the quick-skating puck controllers who showed up in the first few games against non-playoff teams, or the sluggish lethargic Sharks who got totally outworked by Anaheim?
Is this team just an older slower version of the team that struggled down the stretch last season, or is it just the result of having Boyle AND Burns out of the lineup, plus whatever flu/cold is currently going around the locker room?
I don't know. I won't read much into either situation right now.....not the fast start from Marleau, nor the recent lethargic play. I am at least pleased to see that, despite their less stellar play of late, they've still managed to battle back and pick up some important points in the standings.
What impact beyond those points will their recent play have on their future results? I think it's foolish to jump to conclusions right now, either positively or negatively.
I tried escargot for the first time from Costco over the holidays and it was delicious. Unfortunately, it seemed to be only a holiday item because I can't seem to find it anymore.
Honestly I can't believe I'm the only one unhappy with the Sharks performance lately
With how this season is going to be, people should just be happy if they come away with wins. If it was a regular 82 game season, I can understand criticizing them with any little detail. Not this year.
For everyone that was being facetious before, how do you respond now that the Sharks have lost 5 in a row?
Exactly what I said before. You will have streaks of good and poor play. How long does one need to watch hockey before that is realized? Their play has nothing to do with their skating. They're not going to out-skate a lot of teams. They have to be smarter and execute better with the puck, plain and simple. That's their speed. The way this season is and the way this team is constructed, they need to take every win they get and people should expect this team to be streaky.
