Really though,read it's amazing how disrespectful you've been in this thread. Let me just address all your statements.

Not trying to start something, but obviously if someones in a speedboat and ripping around while intoxicated its an issue. But theres enough examples like golf carts or houseboats that are "vehicles" that people drive while intoxicated daily.
And that is illegial.
Operating ANY boat while intoxicated is illegial.
Obviously ripping around on a golf cart intoxicated is not a smart idea either and I am going to bet illegial. Do you really think that you couldn't hurt somebody?
Man on man, common sense really is less common daily!

If using a golf cart while intoxicated was illegal I dont think they would have someone drive to you to sell you beer on a course.....Isnt that common sense?
And yes common sense is less and less every day....its illegal not illegial.
Less traffic, lower speeds=less dangerous. You kidding me? How is it not different?
Because there is no difference
Car = Boat
Alchohol = Alchohol
People dead by car driven by drunk = People dead by boat operated by drunk
It isn't a wide spread issue because there are far less boats then cars in America but for 2010 there were 126 fatalities and 293 injuries in 330 alcohol-related boating accidents in the USA
Here in Chicago it is not uncommon to hear of drunk boating incidents during summer
It is against law to operate a motor boat under the influence
Is that a serious question? How often do you go boating?
Lived in Kelowna for 5 years, does that answer your question...? we had what was called a truck and trailer, and we 'launched' it at the marina. is it done another way now? unless you have a stall at the marina..... which brings up the next question, you have to drive home from the marina, so how? or are you magically sober once you leave the boat?

That guy in Australia got an impaired for driving one of those cooler things.

I drive.
As for how you get the boat up you do exactly what you do when you're not drunk. You get it up on the trailer, hook it up bring it in and drive it out.
You seem to be under the impression that everybody drinking on boats is getting absolutely smashed. That's not the case. Guys are just having fun out there.

I think a better answer might have been, you can park your boat at a dock if you live close to it......which would be a reality for wealthier people.
Big deal I'm drunk, but not that drunk is a pretty terrible arguement.

How deep is the hole you're digging?
Looks like this is where I gotta invoke an old HF clause. The person with the most vCash wins the argument!!
I don't get the big deal about the drunk boating thing.
Huh? It's illegal and potentially dangerous if enough alcohol is consumed, how is it not a big deal? There's not as much traffic on the water as there is on the road if you want to compare it to drinking and driving a car but it's still making you an endangerment to the other boaters out there. Oh and it's against the law.
If somebody you were close to got into an accident with an idiot that was driving a boat impaired, you would probably think that it's a big deal.
I don't know what kind of slop ponds you guys are cruising around on; but I guess if you're in a small ****hole lake in Alberta on the weekend with like 20,000 people jammed into a puddle drinking and boating would be very reckless and stupid... I haven't drank and boated before, but I wouldn't worry about it too much - I often go out and see maybe 1 or 2 sailboats and a motorboat in the distance, depending where I'm cruising around. Tough to hurt anyone too badly except maybe yourself if you flip the boat.
Strait of Georgia, Salish Sea, Burrard Inlet, False Creek, Indian Arm, Horseshoe Bay. Are those just small puddles too? Lots of drunken idiots to play with around here too. Booze and boats do not mix. Booze and ANY moving vehicle don't mix.
The nice thing about hyperaggressive fish and widlife officers is that the few drunken boaters who remain are getting busted, and the penalties are pretty severe. Makes it a more enjoyable experience for everyone.
