Changed it to current players. Yeah, people don't realize how good of a player Douglas Murray is. He is a stalwart on SJ's defense and an absolute monster on their back-end.

I think Jovanovski, Orpik, Murray, Chara, Regehr are all good comparables for McIlrath.

I think the comparisons are meant to be about the style of play, not projected talent

Exelby and Valentenko are different type of players... I can't recall Valentenko fighting like Exelby does....

Deleted a few prospects and replaced them with some others.

Dylan McIlrath - Chris Pronger, less offensive upside
Tim Erixon - Marc Staal with Streit offensive upside
Michael Sauer - Brooks Orpik
Chris Kreider - Ryan Kesler
Carl Hagelin - Samuel Pahlson
Shane McColgan - Ryan Callahan/Brad Marchand
JT Miller - Dustin Brown
Michael Del Zotto - I think Liles is a good comparison
Ryan McDonagh - Ryan McDonagh, this kid is gonna make a name for himself.

Well they're both big hitters, I think that's why that comparison was made

Just to go outside the rules of the game here--rules are meant to be broken anyway but the guy McIlrath projects out to be is Jeff Beukeboom--both 6'5 mean stay at home defensemen. McIlrath may be a little bit better skater and a better fighter but it's about the same offense, size and orneriness. Both very good open ice hitters as well. McIlrath will have to play with more discipline than Beukeboom just because of the way the game has changed from when Beukeboom played for us.

I don't think the comparison to Orpik is that good because Orpik's not really a fighter per se--McIlrath has a bit of a goon factor and is somewhat likely to be considered a top NHL heavyweight some day. A lot else about Orpik compares though. Murray as well is only an occasional fighter.

is Kreider nasty or physical??? Erik Cole is a great comparison that i have read....id love a future Lucic on this team...is Hagelin as gritty or nasty as Burrows?? i think Hagelin will be a Mason Raymond, TJ Oshie type player..

Kreider might not have the fighting snarl like Lucic, but I like how both use their bodies to protect the puck and do work down low.

I guess Raymond would be a better comparison for Hagelin, but I also think he might be more offensively talented then Raymond, hence why I said in the mold of a Burrows type player.
