New York Ranger of the Day
Brandon Prust - #8
LW
Born: March 16, 1984 (Aged 27)
Hometown: London, Ontario
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 192
Hailing from London, Ontario, Brandon Prust is classified as a feared enforcer in the NHL. Originally a Draft selection of the Calgary Flames in 2004, he made his professional debut with the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights of the American Hockey League in 2005-06. He first saw NHL action the next season, with the Flames, where he played a stint of ten games. In 2009, Prust was part of a blockbuster deal that sent him to Phoenix, with Olli Jokinen coming the other way. He played 11 games with the Coyotes before being traded back to Calgary in 2010. After 43 games back in Calgary, Prust once again found himself involved in a trade with Jokinen, but this time
with him, and to the Rangers for Ales Kotalik and Christopher Higgins. In just 26 games with the Rangers in 2009-10, Prust posted career highs in goals (4), assists (5), and points (9). In 2010-11, Prust flourished and crushed these statistics by posting 13 goals and 29 points in his first full season as a Ranger.
Curently playing in his third season in New York, Prust appears to be in his prime and could be a driving force for the team in 2011-12.
