Alexander Burmistrov and Ak Bars Kazan

Information on Alexander Burmistrov indicates he played a single game for Ak Bars Kazan in the 2008-09 season.

He is also listed as having played 7 games in the WJC18 tournament in 2009.

Did he play for Ak Bars Kazan's farm system in the 2008-2009 season before going to the OHL Barrie Colts the following year?

спасибо

пижон спасибо

"ak-bars-2" would then be the equivalent of an AHL farm team in NA?

How much weaker would the calibre of play at that level be compared to the KHL?

Was Burmistrov highly rated as a prospect in Russia?

as I know, this league is 3rd tier in russia (KHL-VHL or Vysha League before 2010 I think - first league)

first league consists of reserve teams. It means juniors plus some veterans who are not good enough to play in better league.
Many of first league teams left this league this summer to join MHL B (second junior tier in russia), next offseason will leave another teams (there is a rule that all russian VHL teams must have junior team in MHL B)

I havent seen any game of first league and AHL, but IMO there is a huge gap.. maybe anybody has better info.

I'd say First League = about the same level as MHL. If we talk about the structure in North America, it would be like one of CHL leagues (a junior league). The equivalent of AHL would be VHL that is Russia's 2nd division.

His stats there look good so I think he was considered a top prospect. Though, I'm not Russian and I can't answer correctly. Seems like at the age he could be in one league with Nikita Kucherov.... judging again, just from stats... As I consider Kucherov top 10 prospect too despite the fact he was taken only in the 2nd round.
