No it's not for Weber or Suter, don't worry.

To Nashville:
Curtis Hamilton
2012 3rd

To Edmonton:
Roman Josi

Why Nashville does it:
With the abundance of young, high end dmen, they can afford to move Josi and bring in some more talent up front. Hamilton is a big kid who projects as a top 6 goal scoring powerforward and I think would be a good fit with Kostitsyn in another year or two.

Why Edmonton does it:
Hamilton will never get a proper look in Edmonton playing behind Hall and Paajarvi, so Edmonton is better off moving him for more help on the backend. As much talent as Edmonton has in the pipes, they won't all pan out, and Edmonton would be getting a young dman who could step in sooner than everyone else and make an impact.

Preds fans really value Josi I think it's decent but Preds fans will ask for more... Keep in mind him and Blum are replacing Weber and Suter....

Blum and Ellis are right handed Josi is left handed that reason alone stops this

Josi would probably be our top prospect if Blum had played two more games then he did.

Fair enough. I simply figured Josi would be the most moveable of the 3

with some Oiler brass saying they might take a forward in next year's defenceman heavy draft, and with Hamilton having the potential to be a power forward, i doubt the Oilers trade Hamilton anytime soon. i like Josi, but if i were the Oilers, i say no deal.

Hamilton is very good. Josi probably has a better chance of reaching his potential, but Hamilton had a stellar year last year. I don't trade him, but that may just be me being a homer.lol. If Hamilton hadn't been injured in his draft year he probably would have been a 1st rounder.

That matters far less than most people think. Last year Detroit had one defenceman who was right handed(Rafalski), and this year has one(White). It's a consideration but not a reason to not do a deal.

i'm just afraid of giving up on Hamilton, only to turn around in Nashville and become a scoring power forward, which the Oilers don't have. and i don't recall the Oilers ever saying that Hamilton won't get a chance, i think he absolutely will as the Oiler brass seem to be pretty high on him.

I would consider Hamilton for Josi straight up but wouldn't give a 3rd aswell.

Ya I would love to hang onto Hamilton, but he's just slightly redundant IMO and if it gave us a chance to pick up a guy like Josi, I'd pull the trigger

Alright i wasnt sure how trotz felt about that because Suter is about the only other leftie (boulion is injured and Hillen... well he is Hillen)

Weber
Ellis
Blum
Klein
All Righties

What's wrong with having this as our LWs?

Hall
MPS
Curtis Hamilton
Hartikainen

Let's wait and see how our prospects develop first before trying to trade valuable assets.

how is he redundant? do we have an over abundance of 6'3" 200 forwards in our lineup? or an over abundance of smurfs that fans have been complaining about for years?

I said slightly. Because on the left side, yes, we do have size. Harti is more suited to the bottom 6 than Hamilton IMO. I just can't see Hamilton having a place on the team unless he passes Paajarvi. I'd rather have a safe bet on the blue line given our teams makeup

Cannot see this happening, the Oilers have high hopes for Hamilton. He's the complete package with size, which the Oilers need. With 2012 draft being heavily laden with good D and with Marincin and Klefbom there's no need for a another LHD prospect even if it's Josi. Even if Hamilton doesn't become that power forward, he be a great defensive forward for the 3rd line.

The Oilers are moving Hamilton up to OKC, even when he has another year of junior eligibility left. Wouldn't be surprised if he see's some time with the Oilers this year.

Maybe because it means our defense is

Whitney - Gilbert
Smid - Barker
Peckham - Sutton

Do you not realize how bad of a lineup that is? It's not a guarantee any of our defenseman will hit their potential and even if they do, we're going to have a period of still having crappy defense even though our forwards are more than capable. Josi helps fix that slightly

i don't want a slight improvement on D if it costs us Hamilton.......i'm willing to wait, this is sometimes what you get during a rebuild....be patient, and give Petry, Klefbom, Musil and Marincin a chance to develop.

At this point, I'll trade Gagner before I trade Hamilton. Oilers already have Petry listed in the top 4, and I'll take my chances with prospects like Klefbom, Musil, Blain and Davidson, Teubert and not to mention the 2012 draft pick. When we make the playoffs, that's when I suggest we do some shopping.

Preds don't even look twice at this. Maybe if Hamilton was Eberle.

Both players are valuable to their teams. Neither should be moved.

It's going to be quite a while before we make the playoffs if we have to wait for the dmen we're just now drafting to become ready...

This is just a step backwards for Nashville. We need NHL ready talent, not prospects.

Preds don't even look twice at this? Josi is that much more of a prospect than Hamilton is?
