you don't like good hockey players. interesting...
It has nothing to do with liking a player, it has to do with asset management. We've made our decision regarding our dman to build around. If Doughty could be had for scraps, sure, offer something. But I'm not in favor of tearing out a major part of our team to get another young, number one dman. The benefit of having an absolutely killer top pairing wouldn't be worth losing the depth at center.
Like I said, it's a bad use of resources. As soon as LA would agree to Jones and a 2nd, I'd be on board, but LA would (rightfully) want the world for him, and Colorado doesn't need him.
Ignoring future cap hits, that's a fair deal... imo
How would that be a fair deal? Avs give up a future #1 center who has all the tools to be an elite two-way centerman, and alongside him they give up young D-man that showed great potential when he came from STL (I'm aware it was a small sample size) and he showed great leadership and seems determinent to prove STL wrong.
The differance in potential and skill between EJ and DD isn't worth Duchene, not even close.
Duchene + jonhson
Doughty + loktionov/hickey/deslaurier
Avs don't need PMD's, they won't trade for prospects or picks, and I wouldn't trade you Duchene for Doughty straight up, not because Duchene has more value, but because it doesn't make any sense for Avs to trade him.
The difference between Doughty and E. Johnson now is no where near the value of Duchene. When both Doughty and E. Johnson hit their prime the difference between the two will be insignificant. Pass on this proposal.
