If he is injured then sit him. He should rest and recover. Or maybe he should stop being a baby and man up.

They have worked well this season. CC worked out well. Hughes, one would have to think, will be better next season. Nova will most likely get better.

CJ Wilson
Mark Buehrle

Hell, go out and sign Papelbon and bring him in too.

Soriano, Papelbon, Robertson, Rivera.

Shorten the game by 4 innings and it won't matter.

In all seriousness, I am not opposed to trading for a starting pitcher. Whether it is Josh Johnson, Fausto Carmona or whoever. But Montero stays.

he was offered last year when cc should have won the cy, hughes was an 18 game winner and pettitte was still pitching. why would we not offer him again? our rotation has gotten worse.

Because last season he was still a prospect. This season he is part of the big club and contributing to them winning their division and surging into the playoffs.

Victor Martinez was never a great catcher either but he was sought after for years. That is who Montero projects to be. I would think the Yankees would trade quite a few other players before offering up Montero.

I do realize. He caught at least a few games this year for the Yankees......

You don't believe he will get better at catching? You have Pena and Girardi.

He has been working on that part of his game. He is 21. His bat is already a Major League bat. That's hard to find in a 21 y/o.

not saying he isnt hard to find, but his lack of catching ability and with tex at 1st and arod becoming the dh, he is a great option to trade for a pitcher.

I just don't see it. I think that if they move someone it will be one of the killer B's +

If they bring someone in, they have to feel moving forward they have the depth they need at pitching anyways....

CC
Trade
Nova
Hughes
Anyone else

He'll be a passable catcher much like Posada was.

There's your problem. Posada was never passable behind the plate. Below average but Yanks put up with him because of the offense he brought to the position.

He was signed as a 3B but Yankees moved him to catcher immediately.

JMO his arm is good enough to play there. Lack of range will hurt him, not the most agile guy out there.

They won 4 championships with Posada behind the plate.

You don't need to be Johnny Bench.

Teams have won before with below average catchers. Red Sox won in 04 and 07 with Varitek behind the plate. He's not good defensively.

They can also move Montero to first base if they choose to, when Teixeira's contract is up.
He will only be 26.

Until then, let him catch and DH.
His bat will make up for whatever shortcomings he has behind the plate.

So what your saying, is the Yankees should play a broken down ARod over a blossoming superstar? Makes sense.
