TV-Pucken 2011

Time for a TV-Pucken thread I think. The tournament's not until 7-11th september but many districts will soon name their squads. So, without knowing exactly which players will be joining, which districts do you think are favourites?

In my mind it's Stockholm I, Västerbotten, Småland, Östergötland and maybe Skåne and Norrbotten. "My" district Östergötland has been working in the right direction last couple of years and seems to be building something solid. Quite a lot of offensive talent this year, perhaps weaker goaltending and defense. Players to be watching for Östergötland might be Henrik Törnqvist (F), Gustav Franzén (F), Felix Marn-Rosén (F), Edgar Treijs born 98 (!) (F) and Gustav Forsling (D).

Östergötland squad of 25+3 (will be down to 20+3 in two weeks):

Goalkeepers

Alexandersson Hampus
Ericsson Sebastian
Sandell Johan

Defenders

Blanck Casper
Forsling Gustav
Fägersjö Filip
Hall Daniel
Karlsson Kevin
Karlsson Oscar
Löwing Pontus
Martinsson Ludvig ”C”
Nyberg Philip

Forwards

Alsterskär Jonathan
Alsterskär Theodor
Andersson Axel
Brissle Erik
Davidsson Viking
Djerf Emil
Franzén Gustav ”A”
Hellholm Simon
Hjärtstrand Daniel ”A”
Håkansson Daniel
Karlsson Felix
Marn-Rosén Felix
Norén Sebastian
Rondahl Philip
Sundberg Oscar
Törnqvist Henrik

No Edgar Treijs then, would've been fun to see him compete with guys two years older. Probably a too good of a year for Östergötland to bring him though.

I've just watched two games between Ångermanland and Västerbotten, yesterday and today. I don't have any names of the players involved, but Västerbotten looked pretty solid and won both games, 4-2 yesterday and 2-0 today (although the game today was only 2 periods instead of 3).

Kylington and Bouramman are both 97 in addition to Ullman.

Also, add Linus Söderström GK Djurgården in Team Red according to the official roster. I thought it would have been somewhat odd that the goalie from the U18 didn't make the cut, while both DIF-goalies from the U16 did.

Sidenote in Ångermanland, Adrian Kempe has transfered from Kramfors to Djurgården.

Haven't seen him play but reports say he's aggressive, gritty and have high work ethic.

How old is the kid, and does this mean he is playing in Sweden next season?

This weekend Småland, Östergötland, Göteborg, Värmland and Västergötland played a cup in Jönköping as a preparation for TV-pucken. Results:

Västergötland - Småland 2-1 ps
Östergötland - Göteborg 3-8
Värmland - Västergötland 2-5
Östergötland - Småland 5-4
Göteborg - Värmland 1-0
Östergötland - Västergötland 3-5
Småland - Göteborg 1-5
Värmland - Östergötland 1-2 ot
Västergötland - Göteborg 1-3
Småland - Värmland 7-1

Impressive results for Göteborg who cruised trough this tournament. Also a good performance from Västergötland who seems to have a homogenous team, they appointed their squad early and have had a lot of time to train together. Also younger brother Collberg in their team.

This is a pretty good thread (in swedish) about this tournament, even if it's from a silly forum filled with angry hockeydads complaining about their kids being cut from the team.

I like the bloodline-thing with Tv-pucken. You can always spot some familiar names from hockey families in the teams. So who do we have besides Nylanders son?
Fredrik Forsberg in Dalarnas team is Filips little brother (did very well in u-16 sm last year)

Who are the big names in this tournament? I guess I don't know much about the 1996's yet. Players that did well last years Tv-pucken and will appear again this year includes Adrian Kempe, Rasmus Andersson, Robin Kovacs, Oskar Lindblom, Marcus Pettersson and the tiny Sebastian Aho. Who else to watch out for?

Haven't seem him yet but Sebastian Collberg's little brother is said to be a treat as well. Seems a bit bigger and play's D, so if he just has Collberg's speed and shot he should be a player alright.

What do we think of Värmland going with two teams this season? Smells what we in Sweden would call hybris.

I can't wait to get acquainted with this age group.

A -98 born and he's already 5'10? I feel old.

Some Group A action from yesterday:

William Nylander was head and shoulders above the rest in terms of quickness in decisions and action. Dictated the play in a way that few does at this stage. He played with Robin Kovacs and they were threats almost every shift.

Collberg Jr. certainly showed that he's got the ability to be as good a prospect as his brother, or at least a very good one. Pretty all-round defenseman in all, with good skating and good balance and great decision-making for a guy coming from a smaller club, lower level and one year early. Also, as seems to be tradition with the Collberg guys, has a whale of a wrister, and a slapper. I doubt anyone has a better shot in this age group.

Also, maybe not a top prospect but it was great to see the little hobbit Oskar Lang, listed as 5'2, 115. He had the puck on a string and his hockey sense and hand-eye was better than most. Hopefully, he can grow a bit to make use for his talents, disappeared a bit when they played Stockholm.

Also some good goaltending. Färjestad's Arvid Lejon and Västergötland's Adam Werner two big guys who moved very well.

There is too many blowouts in Tv-pucken for my liking. Maybe they should invite Denmarks and Norways u-16 national team to Tv-pucken to increase the quality. That would probably mean two new top-teams. Hälsingland/Medelpad and Södermanland/Gotland could share teams to strenghten those teams a bit. Nobody is happy with theese 18-1 games.

It's fun to see though that one of theese small districts Bohuslän/Dalsland is having a great tournament so far.

Stockholm Röd- Hälsingland 10-1 now after 1 period, 32-5 in shots...

The line with Nylander, Kovacs and Timashov have 45 points together in 4 games, that's kind of crazy.

Any idea who William Nylander will represent the US or Sweden? Someone in the Prospect forum claimed he had chosen the US, but you never know.
