Hahah what a load of crap.

Literally anyone can just throw that out there and be 'correct'.

What a joke that is.

1 game is far too little a sample size to judge Frattin on. Yes, he looked very good, but come on.

I would expect his game to be a bit more developed than Kadri's, given their ages, but it all needs to be determined in camp.

Not the type to toot my own horn, but do your research.

You'll find I've been very accurate in the past and do have some useful insight.

Its ignorance like this as to why I barely post on this board in the first place.

That being said, the reason Im calling this quote by "***************" crap, is that he's throwing a very generic statement out there that can be drawn out however he pleases and then call himself an "insider".

People who throw out hard facts, and statements that can only be taken a few directions and not dragged along are the ones that interest me the most.

He has thrown out 'hard facts' before. He's been right a lot and has broken many things not just in hockey.

How on earth do you not see the hypocrisy? Your information is no more falsifiable than bob's. And how much research did you put into checking out this fellow?

I'll take a CW quote as truth 100 times out of 100 over ***************.

That being said, the main point to notice in Chuck's post is that neither group is in any rush to see this through.

Plenty of time left before the season starts. I'd rather see us get Schenn signed at a good salary than a heavily inflated one.

hate to see what you call tooting your own horn

in all your research you didn't find that they not only are represented by the same firm but by the same agent? should be easy to keep in touch with each other since they are the same person

I find it amazing that the two of you know exactly how the sporting agency world works.

Have either of you had an agent represent you, in any fashion? Whether that be through Sports, Criminal or Civil? To sit here and assume that you're dealing with just one agent (because you hired them), is just being ignorant.

Take a look at any sort of firm. A law firm or a Sporting Agent firm as what we're in debate about at this point. These firms have "agents" and these "agents" represent their firm and their clients.

For you to sit here and assume that Meehan can single handedly tend to the needs of Doughty, Schenns, Bogosian and Marchands contract demands is completely delusional. There is a reason there is multiple "agents" within a firm, and there is a reason they are called "agents".

To make this simple, Meehan often has "agents" within the firm acting on behalf of himself, as his workload is probably too large for one person to handle on a daily basis. Much like any situation "agent" or "lawyer" find themselves in. They frequently must find other "agents" and/or "lawyers" or "law students" or "interns" to act on behalf of the firm that the specific agent is representing.

So for you to sit here and laugh at the fact that other agents may be acting on behalf of Meehan and relaying information between multiple parties, is actually just quite ignorant and uneducated.

Did I lose you? Most likely.

Im quite honestly done with this specific topic, as this will most likely get shot down due to blind ignorance since you two clearly know the ins and outs of how players interect with their agents.

One of the things he touched on, was that there was one open spot on the roster and it touched on a debate I had with a friend, who will make the team this year, I like Frattin but is it Kadri?
In addition to the other quote, about the one open spot, he went on to say that maybe more than one young player may impress, so it's possible both Frattin and Kadri will be on the Leaf Roster but it will take quite a performance, to take 2 spots in the top 9 or even 12.

Quote:
Burke went on to say that if more than one young player impresses in camp, the team is willing to adapt.

"At least one, it doesn't mean that someone else can't do it too; if two of these kids can make it and someone's in the press box, then that's fine, too."

documented? off the top of my head I can't, but getting punched in the head for a living must lead to far more concussions than we know of.

i'm sure there were many undocumented concussions that players either played through or recovered from.

aw did you get your feelings hurt by being called out on not being an insider?

you got it pal. Meehan's not involved at all. and he never talks to his staff. hell, he probably spends all day golfing and fishing and lets his "agents" handle everything.

maybe next you would tell us how something else in the big confusing world works? PLEASE. Like what is the purpose of a partner in a law firm?

Does it really matter why the player was sent down in relation to Burkes comment . The fact is he has spent to the cap as well as gone over in his time here .Were we not 1 mil + over the cap a couple of seasons ago .

How many teams do you think would be able to send millions to the minors like we can and then have there GM yap about never spending to the cap.Whats Burke trying to say when he comes out with a comment like that .

Frattin came in and played one descent game. Kadri, in his rookie year played great at camp and many believed he should have made the Leafs out of that camp. Obviously he wasn't ready but it was there. The following year he wasn't ready at camp and spent time in the minors and did well there with his time. He came up and played pretty solid. He had games where if Kessel burried some of his passes he could have had a few three point games. Yet Frattin comes in and plays one, had a couple decent chances and a couple of nice shots....did he hit a post that night? It was one of the last games if not the last game of the year when most guys were holding up and just wanting to get through to the post season.

Kadri has a ton of talent guys, more than Frattin will ever have but you have to give him a chance. In my opinion, Kadri is the better player. Is he better physically right now? Probably not but he is the better skilled player. In my opinion you always go with the player with the most skill. We already have enough stone hands with Armstrong, Brown, Orr and others, we need Kadri's skill.

Matt Frattin does not fall in the Armstrong, Brown, Orr "stone hands" catagory. He has a deadly, heavy shot.

oh, and he hits like a truck

I don't doubt that he does. Kadri can deliver feathery passes to guys, have the talent to make an opportunity. Will see. I think Kadri has more to offer this team.

if its the third line left wing, I think Frattin suits it better than Kadri, he uses his size better and can bury the puck, whereas Kadri passes it. I'd hate to see Kadri passing off to Bozak or Army and seeing them miss, its wasting Kadri's ability.

Whoever has the better camp/preseason gets the spot, simple as that.

Leafs carried a $1.4 mil Cap penalty over to last season from the previous 2010 season. That was handed out by the league itself because Leafs overspent the hard cap ceiling by performance bonuses earned and paid out when included.

So how is that not spending to the cap ceiling, when you're being fined for violating the hard cap upper limit?

Also its also a bit misleading on Burke's part to reference only the Cap upper limit in his spending budget, because players with front loaded contracts ie Giguere (cap $6.0 mil, actual $7.0 mil), Kessel (cap $5.4 mil, actual $6.0 mil), Komisarek (cap $4.5 mil, actual $6.0 mil), Phaneuf ($6.5 mil cap, $7.0 mil actual) etc. ended costing MLSE out of pocket costs in actual dollars spent on player salaries far more than the upper Cap ceiling last season. Those 4 players alone added $3.5 mil to the budget $$$ not reflected in the Cap averaged Cap ceiling figure. (based on contract amount/term), used by the CBA.

This is without factoring in all the 1-way guaranteed contracts in the AHL into the equation.

I think they both have a solid looking futures with the Leafs, just in different roles.
