Yeah Tatar has had 2 seasons to do that against men with pro trainers, Nyquist hasn't played against the calibre Tatar has. Tatar is a great prospect and has done very well for himself but Nyquist has made him look like the lesser prospect for sure
Not saying Nyquist hasn't looked fantastic..just don't think we should think any less of Tatar and it's easier to weight train on a weekend college schedule as opposed to the crazy schedule and travel of the AHL.
Yeah but thats why its surprising that with his pro experience, Nyquist still has looked in a different league than him.
You would think Nyquil would need an adjustment period to the pros but it sure doesnt seem like it
Abdelkader, Howard, and Smith didn't need adjustment periods, and you could say Nyquist was better than any of them coming out of college. I wasn't expecting an adjustment period for that reason.
Scratching Aubry at the expense of Adam Estoclet. IN CURT FRASER WE TRUST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3 games in and I've resigned myself to the fact the team will probably suck again this season, but in IN CURT FRASER WE TRUST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I say give them until the end of the month. It seems like Fraser feels he has a group of talent comparable to the time of Howard, Helm, Abdelkader and Leino, which back then the organization felt the last time they had such talent was during the time of Filppula and Hudler.
Ferraro can't buy any luck on the injury front. Ever since he was drafted, he seems to have had one problem after another.
sad part is, you would always hear people writing about how good he looks out there and how skilled he is, but people were writing him off as a bust because the lack of offensive production.
Well after watching him in a couple games I really think he'll be at least a fourth liner in the NHL. His wheels are right there with Mursak, he hits, will fight and is a solid PKer. If he could stay healthy he could probably get back that scoring punch too
He got a 5 minute penalty but it looked like the guy put himself in harms way too me at the last second by turning his back. The play by play guy said the consensus in the pressbox was that it wasnt a dirty play just unfortuante that the guy turned his back.
Griffins won 3-0, and in case you didnt already expect it Nyquist scored again.
Conner seems to be doing very well as well so far. 8 points in 4 games, two unassisted short handers today
One of them was really nice too.
Oh and another thing to add. They said during the boradcast that Ferraro felt a lot better today and they dont even think he has a concussion and if he does its just mild.
He obviously didnt play tonight for precautionary reasons but thats good news at least
I'm really happy for the Nyquist-Andersson-Conner line and I hope to all that is pure and good that it sticks together.
Coming into this year I thought Nyquist and Andersson could really help each other. Goose is a big talent and Jocke has a year of experience, the motivation to really improve on last year's performance and his blue collar attitude.
At the same time, I kind of wanted a solid veteran to go with those two and it seems like so far we have Conner with his drive to prove he belongs in the NHL and veteran savvy at the AHL level who has really carried that line and made some things a little easier for Goose and Jocke. I know some of us would like to think that it's mostly Goose that makes that line good (and he and Jocke are definitely more than contributors to that line) but Conner definitely deserves the big kudos, imo. The line starts with Conner because he's all hustle out there and I think that pushes Goose and Jocke to amp up their game as well.

Andersson was definitely due for a bump in productivity and I have to imagine Nyquist and Conner are perfect fits towards that end. That's a quality scoring line for the AHL. It looks like Brendan Smith is back in the lineup so he should start chipping in offense pretty soon. It looks like Pyett and Janik were the D-men for all three goals as they were both +3.
