The latest Sens news is up (http://eyeonthesens.wordpress.com/20...)--interesting stuff on Andre Petersson among others.

I also take a look at McKeen's and The Hockey Writers predictions for the Sens (http://eyeonthesens.wordpress.com/20...ason-part-two/), as well as THN's fantasy projections.

We know that prospects playing in the CHL need to be 20 yrs old before they can play in the AHL but Lehner played in Bingo last yr at 19 yrs of age because he was European. Can Zibanejad play in Bingo this yr since he is European & under 20 yrs old or is he obliged to play in Europe or Ottawa because of his contract?

Elliott Friedman's 30 Thoughts are back:

Thought 23:

Quote:
Also hearing that veterans who skated with Mike Zibanejad raved about him. Zibanejad said he knew Ottawa was interested because Bryan Murray invited him to visit right before the draft. He said the Senators also did that with Ryan Strome and Sean Couturier. (Strome was gone before Ottawa picked.) Apparently, (and this is me talking, not Zibanejad) Murray tried to snare a second high pick to grab Jonathan Huberdeau, but couldn't.
"Mike"....pre-season for everyone I guess.

Not true, but Sens management and Zibanejad have both said that it's either Ottawa or Djurgården.

For instance, Mattias Tedenby and Jacob Josefson played for the Devils AHL affiliate in Albany this year.

Switch to "Mike" as Zibanejad's official nickname?

Quick turns.
Now Sörensen is in SAIK's squad to Karlstad (Farjestad) tomorrow because of injuries. Hope he get to play but will likely be the 13th F.

Edit:

(my "freely" translation)

AFop
Sörensen's got speed, hands and hockeysense. He's a hell of a hockey-player. In his case it's more about adjusting
to what it means to be a Skelleftea-player. Go to work EVERY day and work your a** off in practice. He's got a real edge (in his game).

Will he see some minutes againts Farjestad?
Can't promise anything, but it's likely. We haven't decided the final lines yet.

Bergfors played in the AHL at 18 already, and Larsson has indeed said that he'll stay in North America no matter what.

Yes, the Wings almost always get "their way" as well. I think it's partly because the players can see that they're getting rewarded in the end, that those two have developed a lot of their players in the AHL before they make the big club. The reputation of management also plays in, obviously, as well as the success of the franchises.

That's great news about Sörensen. Hopefully he gets to play but I wouldn't count on it, as you say. Let's hope he can find a SEL-2-deal before it's too late and the clubs don't want to stir things up.

speaking of Sorensen, can the swede posters comment on how he compares with Petersson?
Differences? Similarities? Potential?

Don't take the lines too seriously...it's just a template.

He's got a shot at being better suited to play a bottom six role over Winchester, Condra, Regin. There's also 3 guys, including him, that will play for those ??? at 2nd line center.

Now it's pretty complicated trying to figure out who they would allow to play both wings and what not. But honestly, he doesn't have to change anything to be exactly the type of player MacLean wants. Really don't doubt his ability to prove better suited for any rule over a couple of those guys. I don't know that there is much that separates him from Greening either....but they may be slotted into different wings.
It's already been pointed out that you conveniently forgot Michalek ()

I guess you could scratch Condra until there are injuries, but seems like a waste of a hard-working player. Regin could be scratched as well, but what a shame, he needs to play and he needs to produce. We're never scratching Konopka or Smith or Neil and it would be a leap of faith to say Foligno would ever be benched, so that leaves Condra or Regin to sit in lieu of Z-Bad.

Is that the best approach right now? I told you...adding Z-Bad to the lineup was tough.

Wish we didnt pick up Konopka.

Also wish we would get rid of Jesse Winchester - such a plug.

Thoughts on the Sens-Leafs rookie game (http://eyeonthesens.wordpress.com/20...-rookies-3-ot/).

Also the news roundup (http://eyeonthesens.wordpress.com/20...eptember-14th/), with looks at Derek Grant, Patrick Wiercioch, and others.

Tough I know, but I think for most fans, easier after these last 3 games. Still, his tryout hasn't begun, but his first impression exceeded expectations...even for me, I thought he was underrated, and he still was more skilled and bigger than I expected. All I really knew is he had a great motor and could skate.

They've made it pretty clear they aren't afraid to sit a contract if one of the kids pushes. Tim Murray basically said today top 9 forward or back to Sweden.

I think he could impress, and really starting to think he could be our top prospect immediately and is a captain candidate sometime down the road.

I counted based on petelevi's records. Those Rogers people were bad.
