That video just shook me, im pretty much in tears.. After a whole day i'm still in shock this happened... Knowing that i have seen most of these players play before and followed there careers makes it hit home all the worse... My thoughts and prayers go out to all the families that have to deal with this devastating tragedy.

Saw all of these ex-NHLers play live at some time during their careers, including the young Devils player last season. Such a sad story. So many widows and fatherless children tonight.

This?
I've been on the site, but not sure if it's back completely.
Understandable if they put other stuff on hold now of course.

Been starting to follow the KHL for some time now. Being a Kings fan Demitra obviously someone who can make me an instant fan...
and I can not let this organisation go now... if you know what I mean. This is a whole new meaning to the phrase "supporting a team".
I really have to bring something to Berlin when I go to the game there.

Tragic loss for the hockey world. My self are from the same city as Stefan Liv and i know how big this loss is for our town and hockey club. Liv is a hero in Jönköping. My thoughts and prayers are for all people who suffer from this tragic day. Put together a short tribute to all who died yesterday..

Here is Lokomotiv's last friendly game before the season start. It was filmed by Torpedo cameraman, one camera, quality is so-so but at least it is something.

Thank god for that! I hope he'll get better and get back to real life as soon as possible. My thoughts are with his family, friends and everyone affected.

I've just returned from the SKA-1946 match. I was at the arena yesterday at our memorial and was in tears. Today both entering and exiting the arena I was frozen and saying prayers. The area seemed as holy ground.

Rip guys, cannot say anything... totally shocked
I saw this mentioned elsewhere. Half the Man U team was killed. The other half was injured so badly that they couldn't play again.

‎2011-2012 Lokomotiv Yaroslavl team RIP

On 7 September 2011, a plane carrying the team to a game in Minsk crashed shortly after takeoff, killing the entire team's roster

Officially:
Vitali Anikeenko
Mikhail Balandin
Aleksandr Vasyunov
Josef Vašíček
Aleksandr Viyukhin
Pavol Demitra (Slovakia)
Robert Dietrich (Germany)
Aleksandr Galimov
Marat Kalimulin
Alexander Kalyanin
Andriy Kiryukhin
Nikita Klyukin
Stefan Liv (Sweden)
Jan Marek (Czech Republic)
Sergei Ostapchuk (Belarus)
Karel Rachunek (Captain) (Czech Republic)
Ruslan Salei (Belarus)
Karlis Skrastins, (Latvia)
Pavel Snurnitsin
Daniil Sobchenko
Ivan Tkachenko
Pavel Trakhanov
Gennady Churilov
Maksim Shuvalov
Artem Yarchuk
Yuri Urychev

Staff members:
Yuri Bakhvalov
Aleksandr Belyaev
Andrei Zimin
Aleksandr Karpovtsev
Igor Korolev
Nikolai Krivonosov
Evgeny Kunnov
Vyacheslav Kuznetsov
Brad McCrimmon (Canada) - head coach
Vladimir Piskunov
Evgeny Sidorov

Seven members of the flight crew also died in the crash.

It has been determined by the Russian Ministry that it was pilot error apparently the brakes were depressed just before take off causing an abrupt higher nose at take off that lead to the plane striking an Ariel.

What a absolutely tragic day.

On Sep. 22 11 RUS Aleksandr Korolyuk (F) Lokomotiv Yaroslavl was transferred to Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk.

He played for 2 years on the Yaroslavl team, not certain why he was not with the team and then transferred a few weeks later. Unless he was a free agent at the beginning of this season..Does Anyone know why Korolyuk wasn't there??

Apparently 1 Player Maxim Zyuzyakin and an assistant coach from Finland. Should have been on the flight but were not on board the plane that fateful day.

Sad for the Families, Friends and Team mates. Feel sorry for the ones who now must shoulder the question of what if as well... Tragic Tragic day.
