Very sad. McCrimmon and Salei were on that plane.

This is just horrible news. I don't know about McCrimmon's situation, but Salei took a leave for a short time last year after his baby daughter was born. I think they had 3 kids.

Lokomotiv roster from Wikipedia.

Stefan Liv appears to have been on the team, too, as well as a handful of other familiar names (Demitra, Rachunek, Skrastins, Vasicek). The article says at least one person survived, so maybe there are more.

edit: looking the roster over some more, a ton of kids on it. 14 guys 24 or younger.

edit 2: some familiar names on the coaching staff (other than McCrimmon). Alexander Karpotsev and Igor Korolev.

Hard to imagine the offseason could get much worse after the losses of Boogaard, Belak, and Rypien, then something like this.

Just tragic for the hockey community.

Lokomotiv official tells Sovetsky Sport "everyone from the main roster was on the plane + 4 players from the youth team."

This is a terrible end to a terrible off-season...

Wow, this is the saddest news I have heard in a long, long time. Lots of young kids, and men with families. What is going on this summer? So sad.

Why....

This has to be the most horrific sports-related tragedy in my life-time.

I still can't believe it.

This is horrifying news. The hockey world is a very tight knit community and this is another huge blow to their ranks.
My prayers go out to their famies.

I'm actually in tears. This can't be happening.

This is so upsetting I've got no clue what to say.

There is some unconfirmed info that Salei was NOT on the plane. He was waiting them in Minsk (he is from Belarus.)

I hope it's true.

EDIT:

I guess it's not true.

Was just going to post that. Hope it's true. Imagine how he's feeling right now...

Survivor was Alexander Galimov.

I'm praying that Ruslan is okay. But my heart is just shattered by this news.

RIP to Brad and Stefan and the rest.

Someone already updated Wikipedia and has only Galimov listed on the roster.

Per the Wings twitter, Lidstrom will be speaking after the informal skate...I am assuming about this.
