Other sources will say that Salei was not on that plane, he was already there where the plane was going to fly.

So maybe better just wait confirmation for everything.

the other sources have backtracked since that was said. we can be hopeful, but it doesn't look good.

Is Jorma Valtonen (goalkeeping coach) also dead? I read that he stayed in Yaroslavl to train 2nd team goalies.

He's alive, and has commented on Finnish media about it.

There's a report that Ruslan Salei was saved from the accident, because he went to Minsk before by train to meet the new Belarus national team head coach Kari Heikkilä.

EDIT:

^^^

This is false.

Salei was also on that plane.

And everybody is gone.

Terrible news. I made a vow a long time ago to never set foot on a Tupolev, Ilyushin or Antonov airplane.

Utterly devastating. Thoughts and prayers to the friends and relatives of those on board. May their souls rest in peace.

In the course of events like this, rumors become facts and facts become rumors. The truth will come out in due course.

Ugh.
What a kick in the gut.
What a horrible day.
There were some great hockey players lost today. There were hockey players I never heard of. There were stewardesses and flight engineers on that plane.
This is stunning, sad news.
