Very sad and my condolences to the family and friends of those who perished.
TNSE and the Jets have released a statement regarding the crash. It is very interesting that Korolev is mentioned as a former Jet and McCrimmon as a Wheat King and no mention of his time with the organization as a Thrashers assistant coach.
Embracing the Jets version 1.0 and erasing the memory of the Thrashers?

True North Sports & Entertainment and the Winnipeg Jets Hockey Club would like to issue the following statement in regards to the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl Hockey Club:
“We join together with the entire hockey community to mourn the tragedy that occurred earlier today. Perhaps that is the case and then again perhaps it is just stated as so because fans in these parts are more familiar with McCrimmon as a Wheat King due to the close proximity of Brandon/Winnipeg.
I personally associate McCrimmon with the Flames as I remember him when the Flames and Jets were rivals in the Smythe division.
Honestly wasn't aware that he was a Thrashers assistant coach but then again, I didn't really follow the Thrashers all that much.
Almost every single team in the league had to ties to someone on that plane. I am hoping that there will be some kind of memorial announcement at every NHL rink sometime in either the pre-season or preferably at every team's home opener. Not to mention Rypien for the Jets and the others that died this summer. I am still in shock, so dissapointed I will never again get to see Demitra's slick hands and great vision, he was unreal at the last Olympics for Slovakia. And Salei(always was my favorite Duck, and I hate the Ducks, when he played there, thanks to that 2002 win over Sweden in Salt Lake) playing for Belarus, Skrastins for Latvia or any of the others who all made great contributions.
I remember liking Igor the moment he became a Jet. Hard working, honest and unselfish as a player. Obviously a good person as well. My thoughts are with all of those who have been affected by this tragedy.
