Wow, I'm in shock. RIP Rusty . One of the few bright spots on our blueline for the first ten years of our existence, he was always one of my favorites back when he was playing for Anaheim.
I'm just the kind of person that can't dwell on the negative. I like to think that somewhere out there he's reliving this goal and joking around with Boogard, Belak, Rypien, and a bunch of other guys that have moved on from this life, waiting to see their families.

That's a good way to think about it. Before this, whenever I felt bad I always thought about Boogaard, Rypien, and Belak patrolling the ice and beating the daylights out of guys in the sky
I am shocked for words that something like this happened. I just came home and found out. I can't find the words to describe how sad this day is to all hockey fans. Rusty and everyone who died will be missed.
This one hit me pretty hard. Rusty was never necessarily my favorite player or anything, but I was always a fan and had hoped he would come back for one last year where he belonged. My spirits were lifted somewhat in the wake of the tragedy when that report came out about Rusty not being on the flight, but were crushed again when that turned out to be false. Definitely a sad day for Ducks fans everywhere. Even if he hasn't been with us for five seasons, he'll be a Duck for life.
I lost it when I saw that on the Ducks website; this has been a summer of sorrow for hockey What a tragedy and so much heart break for their loved ones. RIP to Rusty "I am a Mighty Duck" Salei and to other passengers and flight crew who lost their lives today.
