I might stop by the Pond tomorrow if my season seats are there so if anyone wants to make like a tribute banner or card, I can print one out at my work and leave it at the Honda Center. Maybe we can have all the names of the HF posters on it.

That's an awesome idea. I wish I could be in Anaheim right now, I'd definitely be at the Ponda to pay my respects.
It was papaspud's idea to take a candle, we took some other stuff too. Sorry we missed you duckie.
I went really late... obviously because I just got back home. I understand you're a working girl so you can't be out at all hours of the night. It felt weird because the lot was so empty. But the candle was still lit and all the notes put a tear in my eye

Yeah, it was empty when we were there too. It was sad but touching.
I'd like to see Salei + Teemu's number both retired at the same time. Of course I'd have no issue if it was retired opening night for example, either way hopefully it's at least honored.
There's gonna be people who wont wanna retire his number. But even if it isn't retired officially, it's not gonna be used anyways in a really long time.
He wasn't a star like Teemu, Kariya, Scotty or Giguere, but it wasn't for nothing he was able to stay around for 10 years. He was a fan favourite, a great locker room guy and a great stay at home defenseman.
He didn't just pass away, he died a most disturbing death. Raising his jersey to the roof wouldn't just be a tribute to him, but to all other victims in the crash that's one of the biggest tragedies in history of sports. It's pretty unlikely something like this will ever happen again while the Anaheim Ducks organization exists.
If you don't retire it, when will it suddenly start to feel ok to use it again? 5 years from now? 10 years? For those of us who remembers his long stint in Anaheim, I think not...
Anaheim Ducks have released a statement from Bethann Salei, wife of Ruslan Salei.
"On behalf of the Salei family, I want to express my sincere thanks to the entire hockey community, including all of Ruslan's friends and fans, for the overwhelming love and support. While this is an extremely difficult time for us, the outpouring of affection our family has received has been comforting. As much as Ruslan enjoyed playing hockey, he loved the camaraderie he had with his teammates, the team staffs, and the fans that much more.
"Ruslan was the love of my life, and I'm extremely grateful to have our three beautiful children. He treasured his family life with us, and we miss him dearly."
I have really high standards on retiring numbers. I don't want Kariya's or Niedermayer's retired. Mayybe Jiggy. Selanne is the only one for sure.
So I'm not a fan of retiring Rusty's number. Didn't Burke start some kind of wall of honor or something? For players who did a lot? I think Hebert was on it? That would be perfect for Rusty.
