Schwartz

for

Blacker
2012 2nd

Aside from Colborne, Leafs don't really have a high profile centre prospects but a strong young defensive core with an excess of defensive prospects, while at first look St. Louis doesn't seem to have much in terms of defensive prospects after Cole.

Value/incentive there?

Armstrong just hangs up the phone.

Considering Pietrangelo, Shattenkirk, Polak, and Nikitin are all on the team and Cole will be here next season, we have no need for defensive prospects.

I don't know much about Jaden Schwartz but I do know that he is kinda small, and I do know about Jesse Blacker and he has done nothing but impress me almost every time I watch him. Can somebody maybe fill me in on Schwartz a bit.

I don't think that there is a realistic chance that St. Louis moves Schwartz for a prospect/draft pick package.

Why does St Louis need to trade quality for quantity? Last time I checked they had tons of good prospects and don't need to sacrifice quality for quantity.

Hockey's Future has him as the 15th best prospect:

Jaden Schwartz had one of the best debuts in college hockey this season. Despite playing in only 30 NCAA games due to an ankle injury suffered in his second game at the WJC, the forward ranked second among freshmen with 47 points. Possessing elite offensive instincts and an incredible skill-set, Schwartz is adept at finding space for himself as well as setting up his linemates for opportunities. Though he will need to develop more strength, he is a potential top-line forward for the Blues. His late season surge pushed the Tigers to a surprising third place finish at the WCHA tournament and NCAA tournament berth, where the team demolished defending champ Boston College before bowing out to North Dakota.

His offensive potential is huge and he will not be traded, unless he is involved in a blockbuster.

Blacker is a fast skating, two-way D who has posted almost a PPG in the OHL (Top 5 in defensive scoring), 2nd in defensive scoring in the playoffs, named to the third All-Star team and also was one of the leaders that carried the OS Attack to their first championship. He is also one of the most NHL ready prospects on the Leafs. Add a high second round pick to that and I'm pretty sure it should be considered quality in this deal.

Clearly you have NEVER EVER ****ING EVER seen Jesse Blacker play. Stop assuming every Leafs proposal is 'quality for quantity'.

Yes, but that doesn't matter, since the only reason ComradeChris posts his trades is to get off on ******** on franchises one way or another.

We get it. Jesse Blacker is good. He's also a little redundant to the Blues who have solid OFD in Shattenkirk and Petro, as well as youth at D in Nikitin, Cole, and Polak. Schwartz has also looked incredibly good, and probably would have gotten a Hobey Baker nomination as a freshman had he not have gotten hurt. Knowing how difficult the NCAA is for freshmen in regards to putting up points, the Blues are incredibly pleased with the way Schwartz has looked and therefore it's highly unrealistic that we'll trade him in the foreseeable future, especially for a redundancy and a pick, which would be behind Schwartz's developmental curve from the start.

Not really sure why the Blues would do this trade, assuming the value was even. They have no need to. If the Leafs really want Schwartz, they'd need to make an offer that somehow addresses a Blues' need. This aint it.

Parise like numbers over a top 4 potential guy. Blues pass with ease...And that's putting it politely.

Not trying to be a homer but I can make claims that Blacker is a Niedemeyer-potential...

Substantiate that with statistics please? Schwartz put up the same PPG as Parise in the same league.....and probably on a worse team.

Blacker is TWD, and is phenomenal in both ends. I was saying that he is worth a lot more than people think, and is not just 'quantity' he belongs on the quality list.

I don't get how that equals Scott Niedermayer potential. Unless you severely overrate prospects.

Blacker isnt even ranked in the top 75 prospects in the league as where Shwartz is 15, no matter how good Jesse Blacker may be, hes cant even touch Shwartz

Blacker is uneeded for the Blues at point seeing how they are very flush with young defenseman, thus, i doubt they trade Schwartz for him seeing as Shwartz was drafted so recently. the Blues have no reason to be trading quality for quantity at this point (one more valuable asset for two less valuable assets) so i doubt this is a deal they would make.
