very successful preseason going 6-1, hopefully we can translate that kind of record in the season. I feel really confident this year and will surprise many this year (not only for half a season, but for all 82 games!)
It's nice that we won a ton during pre-season, but it's still preseason. This is the only season where Jon Sim could lead the NHL in scoring every year. I'd love to take the 6-1 rating as an indicator that we will dominate everyone all the time this year, but pre-season doesn't mean ****. It's like this horrible lesson we all have to remember every year.
Still, I hope that it is an indicator of our possible ass kicking throughout the entire season.
I still do not believe yet that the Stars are having a major impact throughout the whole season. This team needs the time to find real chemistry to gain consistency first. Too many changes have been made this summer, which in the long run is a good thing of course. Especially the loss of Richards for me is not a real loss, since the Stars would not have been able to add much needed depth.
I would be already happy just to see some of those kids gaining confidence and experience this season. I think it's very important that Ott, Benn and some of the kids will take the next step.
Maybe I'm too optimistic here but I do think the Stars will surprise a lot of people this season. Not sure about the chemistry aspect as we definitely can expect to see some chemistry between Ryder and Ribeiro, Dowell and Burish, Fiddler and Dvorak (based on comments regarding recent training camp/preseason games). Souray is an experienced pro; don't think it'll take long to find an automatism with whoever he'll be paired with (Pardy?). Benn keeps improving, Goligoski has settled down, increased depth, rising new prospects, a lot to be optimistic about.
Agree with the Richards comments. Especially Ribeiro will gain from his departure, fully expect to see the best Ribs we've seen in Dallas so far. Other aspects such as new motivation raised by Gulutzan's hire, new ownership situation in Nov/Dec etc will give a whole new boost for Dallas hockey and fans.

Yep pre-season is pre-season and means nothing. But I'd rather see us winning presaeson games b/c our depth guys are scoring like we picked them up to do, Riberio/Ryder having chemistry, and Kari being awesome than the alternative. It means nothing and has no predictive value on the regular season, but it can only be a good thing that we're 6-1 and opposed to 1-6.

As much as I don't want to believe it, I think you're right.
It's pre-season but it definitely has filled me with a certain amount of optimism. Kari has looked great. Ribs and Ryder look amazing. Morrow looked strong. The powerplay looks good.
Will get tested here in the first month so buckle it down. Go Stars Go!

Morrow-Ribeiro-Ryder is pretty much the only given.
At practice today they also have:
Eriksson-Benn-Vincour
Ott-Fiddler-Dvorak
The remaining forwards are Barch, Burish, Dowell, Petersen, and Wandell. Burish is not practicing today, but the last report was that he should be ready. Assuming the report is accurate, my best guess would the final line is:
Wandell-Dowell-Burish
The D pairs seem like they could go 2 ways:
Goligoski-Robidas
Grossman-Daley
Souray-Pardy
or
Goligoski-Pardy
Souray-Robidas
Grossman-Daley
Pardy has played with both Goligoski and Souray. I don't think Souray and Robi have played together yet, but the coach has talked about them having history together. Grossman has also played with Robidas.
I had a feeling that it would be Pardy and Goligoski from the moment Pardy signed with Dallas. The obvious parrallel is Murray and Boyle on San Jose, but we've seen that Gulutzan obviously trusts Pardy to play in some high leverage situations and we know that he wants one guy on the ice at all times that is capable of clearing the net. With a Pardy / Robidas pairing that element is sorely lacking.
Souray-Robidas scares me b/c I don't think either of them is great defensively. But Souray-Daley scares me for the same reason. I think I just don't know what to expect from Souray's defensive game just because he's such an unknown.
Souray-Daley I feel would work well defensively because Souray is known for his aggressive play while Daley is known for his passive coverage in the zone. This fits with Gulutzan's system of 1 guy going hard to the boards and the other staying home in front of the net.
Offensively, it would also be beneficial. Daley's forays into the other team's zone don't always directly produce offense, but they often result in shots from the point as the puck filters back to the line. Most of this time they're wasted chances since the shot was being taken by Fistric/Woywitka/Skrastins. They would turn into scoring chances playing with Souray.
4 more days till the season finally starts!!! Most excited I've been for a season because of how much changed this off-season and all the things to come during the season (Owner, Benn/Gogo contract etc).
Just put this article together before the season starts!
Can we get a possible Skrastins vid, in the GDT's this year?
Finally got around to doing that. Stars tribute from first pre-season game is on video post now.
Also, first post is completely up to date. Just waiting for game notes to go up to add in injuries, officials, and Chicago notes. Have listed all upcoming milestones...and there's a ton of them...now that I have everything up to date in history thread, including penalty minutes. Morrow is about to shoot into the all-time top 10 in every stat.
Well done, that's some MASSIVE GDT opening! Can't wait for Friday, now that we in Europe also have access to GCL with the option of choosing Ralph & Razor in both home and away games as well.
Today we should learn more about Burish's status for the game.
