Finally got around to doing that. Stars tribute from first pre-season game is on video post now.
Also, first post is completely up to date. Just waiting for game notes to go up to add in injuries, officials, and Chicago notes. Have listed all upcoming milestones...and there's a ton of them...now that I have everything up to date in history thread, including penalty minutes. Morrow is about to shoot into the all-time top 10 in every stat.
Two days away
I'm guessing this should read 150 and not 500.
Tom Wandell is 11 games away from 500 career games.
It's going to be a longggggggg one. Also forgot to put in that Joe Nieuwendyk Hall of Fame night is on the 29th of this month (for any out of the Metroplex fans that might want to travel to that one). I know there's an Belfour night as well later on in the season, but too lazy to go look at the tickets again.
Petersen and Barch are rotating on the 4th line with Wandell as the other wing and Dowell at center. Burish is missing opening night because he didn't skate yesterday. Gulutzen said he could go Saturday if he skates Thursday and Friday.
I think they'll be good. Those pairs make a lot of sense, other than Goligoski-Robidas, but there's not much that can be done about that with the injuries. Again, Gulutzan's system has the potential to do wonders for Fistric. He's playing on his correct side for starters and he'll likely be the guy staying home and clearing the crease, hopefully minimizing the times he gets caught out too far along the boards. Larsen and his awesome mobility can handle that.
Benn and Loui - an obvious combination right now. It'll be interesting though what kind of chemistry they can build. There are a lot of questions to be answered this season and I do not understand why a lot of people are so surprised by the bad predictions. There are a lot of new faces around and the only key-combination that was somehow reliable last year was Morrow and Ribeiro. Ryder and Ribeiro looked promising so far though.
Can't wait for this game to start. I finally wanna see some Stars-hockey again. It feels like it has been ages ago ...
Bolland and Smith to miss Friday's game for the Hawks.
Forwards Dave Bolland (upper body) and Ben Smith (concussion) will miss the season opener. Smith was placed on the injured list but Bolland hopes to play in the home opener Saturday night against the Stars. The Hawks recalled Pirri and he likely will center a line with Bryan Bickell and Michael Frolik on Friday night.
