Mark Messier with Canuck Fans in Rogers TV Ad

I just saw it on TV, Mark was promoting a Rogers hockey-related product, while with a family of Canuck fans.

You know how I can tell they are just actors, and not real Canucks fans at all?

They looked way too happy to be Canucks fans. They must not have been following the team for very long.

Also they weren't doing horrible things to Messier, we know.

What a massive marketing gaffe. It's like the people in charge weren't even paying attention. There isn't a single fan of Messier in Vancouver.

I dont know what to think of this, so take it with a grain of salt. But my brothers friends dad (I know lol) works for sportsnet and has said that they are doing these commercials to try to repair his image with canuck fans, which i guess could also infer MM on the panel more?

Oh god pls no

It really is a "What were you thinking" kind of thing, isn't it?

Nothing beats the Heritage Classic when he came on the Jumbotron advertising something and 50 000 fans simultaneously booed.

Messier's failures in Vancouver are greatly overhyped. That was a club in shambles at the time, Gretzky in his prime wouldn't have gotten us out of the basement. And he was 36, what were we expecting.

I noticed another problem with the commercial. The dad doesn't have a gun to his head yet he's still happily wearing a flying V jersey.

You mean... they were Canucks fans... sitting next to Messier... and they weren't plotting how to kidnap him and keep them in their basement feeding him just enough to keep him alive?

What kind of world does Rogers think we live in?

It's more his off-ice behaviour that people take issue with.

Not to mention we got Sundin after and he seemed to have a positive impact on our top players in comparison to Mr leadership.

It's nearly twenty years ago. Let him be sort of famous. He wants it real bad.

It was that stupid Can-Am Spyder trike thing, and that was the most animated the fans got all game. Canucks fans are universal in their hatred for Messier, and it sucks how much he's been on during commercials shilling all this Rogers garbage during games. That guy just sucks for soooo many reasons beyond just his Canucks tenure. Messier is all-around awful.

Keep fighting the good fight, people.

Mats Sundin, now there's a good guy. Mark Messier could learn something from Sundin.

I hope people are voicing their opinions on this, would love to see these cut. I have no desire looking at that ugly mug all season long.

It's a joke, the fact that he's smiling while talking about the Canucks..

And to those who are saying "let it go".

No way, he came to Vancouver and shat on everything.

Never forget.
