Well, assuming he's healthy I'd say Morin is likely to start with the Hawks this year.

Morin - Toews - Kane
Brunette - Kruger - Hossa
Bickell - Bolland - Frolik
Smith - Mayers - Stalberg
Olesz

While they're at it, take out the whole rosters tonsils/appendix. We don't need that crap flaring up come playoff time!

I would imagine sharp will be ready by opening night

No need to rush Sharp back

I would say this opens door for Kruger not Morin to start year with Hawks

Smith-Toews-Kane
Brunette-Bolland-Hossa
Bickell-Kruger-Frolik
Olesz-Mayers-Carcillo
(Stalberg)

That's a bit of a thorn in the side. Hopefully this means Morin is up to start the season and sticks.

Well, he has 24 days to heal from this before our first regular season game. I'm pretty sure that would put him almost right on schedule to be back as long as he could get a little ice time within a week before the game.

A friend of mine had a laparoscopy appendectomy and he was playing golf 3 weeks later. Golf different from NHL hockey? Maybe.

Unfortunately, he later cut his achilles tendon clean through while cutting speaker wire sitting on the floor indian style. Never played golf again, kept pushing everything off to the right. True story.

Right, it depends if full recovery means he's cleared for contact or he can't skate for 3-4 weeks. If he can skate, he'll be fine for the start of the season

I had my appendix removed laparoscopically as well and I was back to doing physical labor (my summer job at the time in college) in two weeks without much issue. No need to rush him obviously, and everyone heals differently, but I have to figure he'd be ready by opening night.

Honestly my first thought was that my buddy was back at it after a couple weeks. Then I factored another week in there to be conservative.

Adam Dunn had it and played like 4 days later.

Glad this happened now and not in the middle of the season or playoffs.

Hey, at least it can only happen once!

I had it when I was 10 and was back to normal in 2-3 weeks. Just really bad luck for Sharpie that it had to happen so close to the start of the season.

My first thought: this could be an opportunity for Olesz to get the ice time he may not have gotten otherwise. I’d like to see him prove his detractors wrong.

I hope he's back for game 1. I don't like any of the lineups posted without Sharp and the first two games are against Dallas so we need 3 points minimum.

Luckily I think Dallas is going to be bad this year. I think we can take 3 points without Sharp.

They're going to suck out loud. The Hawks can easily take 3 or 4 points without him.

It's obviously a lot different, but the abdominal twisting and tourque required to drive a golf ball is pretty intense so in that sense it's a pretty good litmus test for how healed a person is. The comparison holds some water in that sense, but it still doesn't account for body contact and the constant strain on the core that skating causes.

agreed. and he has a lot of them. (detractors)

if he's going to be thrown under the bus, i'd at least like to see a reason for it...

He's gonna miss 1-3 games max... let's not jump overboard just yet. It's 3 weeks-a month for a complete recovery with no pain or limitations. He could theoretically be back by the end of training camp if he's willing to deal with a little pain. Either way, I think we can do fine against the Stars/Jets (if he's even out three games) without Sharp.
