[CHI/NYI] Hawks acquire David Toews

Hawks acquired Jonathan's brother today, David Toews, from the Islanders for future considerations.

He's been added to the Hawks rookie tournament roster.

Minor deal but it's the other Toews.

No, he's small and not particularly skilled, but this is a good move because it's going to make JT a happier, even more loyal and hopefully more productive player.

His upside is AHL bottom six guy.

Im kidding.....Yeah having your brother in the same ORG is pretty cool.....Think Eric and Jared Staal in CAR....one NHL Star and Captain and the Other a minor league player still developing...

This is definitely a move to make The Captain happy. That is all. Pretty funny cause I think someone proposed this on the main boards and people laughed at him.

David Toews probably will never play in NHL with this being a PR move

Most likely I see him ending up in ECHL and ending up a bottom 6 AHL player

I think it's about time the Hawks traded for Kane's sisters

This is all about giving the younger Toews a career in hockey. Let him play in the E for 3 or 4 years and see if he can get good enough to get interest from pro teams in Europe. If not, he gets a token call up to the Hawks for a game and calls a career. My theory anyway.

But his upside is better then Didomenico IMO ,,, Maybe we can Dump Didomenico to someone
Why do you keep talking about Didomenico? like hes hurting the organization.

I played against David when he played Shattuck St Marys. He was definatly one of there best players along with Jordy Murry and Derrick Stepan. He can play so maybe not just a PR stunt.

eh, don't know much about him, but doesn't sound like it's going to hurt us in any way, so I'm fine with signing the lesser Toews.

I also support that idea.

Couldn't hurt to keep him in the system. The FC probably aren't more than a 6th round pick anyways.

Because Didomenico is bad and wastes a contract the Hawks could use for someone with some sorta talent

And David Toews has shown very little to say he can play as the compeittion has gotten tougher

At best he could develop into AHL/NHL tweener but given his development so far he is long ways from that

why pick on didomenico...theres a lot of other players that are not playing well.

Is it because of the versteeg trade?

He picks on DiDomenico because

A) He knows nothing about the player
B) He was part of the Versteeg trade

In truth, while DiDomenico may never play in the NHL he most definately has talent. You don't play on Team Canada at the World Juniors because you're bad.. but, I'm not going to go down this road again because it's pointless.

As far as the Toews' trade, I like it. Perhaps getting him on a team with his Bro can be added motivation to make it to the show.

DiDomenico has heart and work ethic in spades. He'll never give up so at worst he stays in Rockford and becomes captain someday and maybe gets into coaching with us. That's not worth Versteeg but it's worth something to have a guy like that in the organization, for his positive influence if nothing else. If we become overloaded with forward prospects then he'll go on his way.

Hey, I don't see a problem. It would be sick if they got a chance to play on the Hawks together, but we'll see if that ever comes to fruition. Maybe this sparks something inside of him.

I have no problems with this deal. While he is not likely to ever see time in Chicago, I am sure he could help our ECHL/AHL squads.

well if he plays in Rockford they can probably live together during the AHL & NHL seasons not that they would see each other a ton but I think it would be good for both guys.
