PTO fan's choice

there are 3 PTO's joining the Canucks this year that perk my interest. 1 may make the team or none at all. It will be fun to watch this unfold and see who becomes victorious!!!

Owen Nolan

Right Wing
Born Feb 12 1972 -- Belfast, Ireland
Height 6.01 -- Weight 205 -- Shoots R

Todd Fedoruk
Left Wing
Born Feb 13 1979 -- Redwater, ALTA
Height 6.02 -- Weight 235 -- Shoots L

Steve Begin
Center
Born Jun 14 1978 -- Trois Rivieres, PQ
Height 6.00 -- Weight 193 -- Shoots L

each player brings experience and something different to the table. So HFBoards, who will it be?

There's actually more than 3.

Manny Legace was announced a week or so ago, and looks like Anders Eriksson and Niko Dimitrakos are also getting PTO's too.

That being said, I honestly think Nolan can make the big club. I'm pulling for him.

I said 3 that perk my interest. I just think those particular 3 have the best chance to earn a spot..

Really pulling for Nolan.

Then Begin.

Hope Fedoruk is cut first or given an AHL only contract.

I like Nolan because he can legitimately slot from the 1st to 4th. A guy like Begin is redundant with Bitz and Oreo fighting for that last spot

Nolan.

I'm meh on Begin and I have no desire to see Fedoruk get put into a coma when he decides he has to fight again.

If anybody will do it, it will be Nolan.

I could see a situation though where Begin makes it due to cheap contract and then leave when Raymond gets back or when they realize he's not that great a la Schaefer.

I want Nolan on this team badly. Begin is a huge maybe, hopefully he goes to the farm. Then Fedoruk, I feel sorry for the guy with his story and all, hopefully he impresses in camp and gets a chance on another team.

Terrific graphics on that opening post there jammy, well done!

I really hope for Nolan - the problem with an old warrior like Nolan is two fold. First, he's just going to look real slow and ineffective compared to Hansen, burrows, Higgins, etc... Secondly, will be a lot more effective in the playoffs than during the regular season.

So its going to be very difficult for mgmt to resist the temptation of a) comparing him to Burrows et al. instead of focusing on his positive attributes and b) waiting 82 games, including many scratches, for him to shine. Nolan's role is to be a role player (as in brings something to the party that the team otherwise doesn't have).

Begin was a marginal 4th liner with the Habs 3 years ago so I'm not expecting him to make it at all but he has great attributes as a veteran so I hope they sign him to a decent (as in AHL pay) two way contract so he can be called up for injuries (and really with very little risk of not clearing waivers) and AV (or successor ) not having to teach him how to tie his skates so to speak.

Just need to make a bit of contract room...
