For Boston, there are many

The Neely trade.

The first Esposito trade (the one where we got him)

The second Esposito trade (where we acquired Brad Park)

Ron Grahme for first round pick (Ray Bourque)

Awards:
Perhaps not the best ever, but certainly one that gets minimal play has to be Butch Goring for Dave Lewis and Billy Harris. The ultimate Cup-winning catalyst trade....

How long exactly have you been following the Canadiens? You might want to look a bit further back to find the best trade ever for your favorite team. Pollock and Selke pulled some pretty shrewd deals in their day.

I guess it depends on your view of what best trade is

I like the when the oilers dumped carson to the deadtings for Murphy, Graves, Klima anda Sharples.--They won number 5 and avoided the Bambino curse that still haunts the city of beantown

for the Isles, it's easily:
03/10/80 The Isles trade Billy Harris and Dave Lewis to the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for Butch Goring
the final piece falling into place as the Isles go on to 4 straight cups and 19 straight playoff victories.

Not too far off of a second place:
10/01/81 Bob Lormier and Dave Cameron are traded to Colorado for the Rockies' first round pick in 1983, which is used to select Pat LaFontaine.

And just for some recent history:
22/06/01 Mathieu Biron and a 2nd round selection (later traded to Washington, later traded to Vancouver - Denis Grot) in 2002 are traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning for Adrian Aucoin and Alexander Kharitonov.
Blake for a 5th and Hunter for a 4th weren't bad either.

Easily the Joe Nieuwendyk for Jarome Iginla deal for Dallas, which automaticly stands as one of the best deals ever made, period.

Well, so far it helped both team, so I don't know what side your taking. But Dallas won the cup with Nieuwendyk, and Calgary acquired a guy who was best player in the NHL 5 years later. SO just pick a side!!

Detroit Traded to Hartford Keith Primeau, Paul Coffey and Detroit's 1st round choice (Nikos Tselios) in 1997 Entry Draft for Brendan Shanahan and Brian Glynn.

I'm not sure who were involved in the Lafleur trade, but I believe this could be the best ever as it gave us LAfleur

Right now he is, but I think that Zubrus will be the best player of that deal in the long run. I'd be kinda worried if that was in fact your team's best trade in franchise history..

There's no side.. Just an utterly fair deal no one would ever regret, not the Stars fans and not the Flame fans. If we had to pick a trade of your team of which you clearly won, I'd select the Kevin Hatcher for Sergei Zubov trade.

If Zubrus could be more consistent and play an injury free season, then it could even out the trade a bit but for right now I'd take Zednik over Zubrus...Zubrus has gone through stretches were he's been absolutely dominate at each ends of the ice, but then he'll go through periods of time were he's useless or cant finish scoring chances to save his life...right now Zednik is clearly the better player but Zubrus could become more of a threat in a season or two

For the Canucks...

Alex Stojanov for Markus Naslund

also Trevor Linden for Todd Bertuzzi, Bryan McCabe and a draft pick (Jarkko Ruutu)
The fact that we ended up getting linden back while we still have Bertuzzi and Ruutu makes this trade even better.

Nikos Tselios. Regardless, it was a damned good trade. Shanahan was in his prime and was the top PF in the game, Keith Primeau was an underachiever and Paul Coffey was at the end of his carrear. Shanny was a huge part to winning the cup in 97 and he was great for us in 98 and 02. He was the final peice to the puzzle for us.

I dont think he is ever useless.....when he is not scoring he is doing all the other little things.....he is a very good all around player....and if he puts it together offensively he will be a great player....Zednik on the other hand is a better goal scorer.....but does little else. He is a likeable player...plays with emotion....but pretty much a one zone player. He tries to play responsible in his own zone....but IMO just doesnt have it.....this along with the fact he is very very streaky when it comes to scoring

although debateable....I dont think Zednik is a better player....he has several flaws, as does Zubrus....but IMO Zubrus is a much better all around player...

Brian Engblom
Doug Jarvis

To MTL:
