For a plug he sure is lucky to be able to lead the league in SHG. And even more surprising that his GPG were higher 2 yrs ago without the Sedins that they were with it. The Sedins must be wizards being able to help this "plug" score from the bench.

Watch some more hockey before commenting.
It was the lowest top SHG total in recent history, plus the guy he tied with dor first missed a third of the season. I consider that luck tbh

True - but everyone was drinking the Kool-Aid when he was in Montréal. Next captain?

In fact, we're the "lucky" ones when it comes to Komisarek.

It will be interesting to see if someone comes up with a better example.

He may not have lots of skill, but he does have leadership.

I think the three guys in the OP's post all earned their way to their spots, with or without their teammates.

Making the best out of what you have is an achievement that is rarer than we think.

Okay thanks, what a great argument. He's definately a plug after reading that statement.

Also, Im not talking about great players that benefited from other great playrs like Jari Kurri for example.

Some guys:

Holmstrom - Standing infront of the net with help from Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Lidstrom doesnt sound like the hardest job in the world.

Rafalski - Great offence but "not so great" defence from this guy. Playing with Lidstrom and Neidermeyer must be a really tough assignment ...

Burrows - Basicly a plug that happened to find chemistry with he Sedins.
All 3 of thes players would be good additions to any team. Calling Burrows a plug is a joke.

This is insane. Standing in front of the net in the NHL, THE NHL doesn't sound like a hard job??!?!? And how does having "offence" make Rafalski lucky? Lots of great offensive D men sacrifice defense to make offence happen, thats why you pair them with another guy that plays great D. And the third point you listed is just a troll attempt, so I won't respond to it.

Dominic Moore. Couldn't fit anywhere until he came to Toronto. Now he's looked at as one of the better 3rd line centres in the NHL.

Do they have to be current NHLers?
Cheechoo benefited from Thornton a lot, had a great season and earned a nice pay cheque. His skating was pretty atrocious too. Not sure if he's the best example for this thread though.

Vancouver is one of the most watched teams in the league. People have a decent basis on Burrows. I don't think he has the skills to be a 30 goal guy in a less supported situation.

Burrows is not a plug, however he's not a 30+ goals 60+ point player without the Sedins. I'd put him more as 15-20g, 45ish pt player without them.

That's somewhat irrelevant because his role would be switched to a more shut down, defensively minded player and would still contribute to the team's success in a different way. Hell, he still does on the pk, which shows his versatility. Take into account his modest contract and I'd hardly call him "lucky" or a "plug"; however he is an easy player to hate, so I can empathize with some of these comments.

Meh, I'd say Risebrough. Not Lemaire.

Risebrough has to be one of the worst GM...

Anson Carter yes.

Alex Burrows no.

But i can understand why most people make that mistake.

Holmstrom is a good player and Rafalski?!? Great player.

Thinking PA Parenteau now.

Thinking Brad Marchand.

Thinking Penner, Byfuglien, Moen, Maltby, Burish, Osgood (hall of fame? Lol!)

He is definitely lucky to have a 35 goal season.
