Yes. He was drafted for that ability and that ability will take him to the AHL and beyond. His skill level was fine and he made a few nice plays in the 1st and 2nd. He's a unique player and the only of his kind we have in the system.

That's great maybe next time he could put his head in the game and actually play a little hockey along with the other stuff. Tonight he didn't play well at all.

Ross played for the big club last year didn't he? Why do I recall that name.

Sorry, not impressed, and yapping isn't that big a contribution to a team.

PS. If yapping really mattered, a lot of HF posters would be in the NHL! :-)

Gardiner should be the first call up on an injury

Ross reminds me of marchand a bit. If he ever comes close to what marchand is like he'd be a great pick.

I thought frattin was so-so(after all that hype) but man is that guy built like a truck. Almost impossible to get off the puck, great on the boards and runs to the net like a bull. His game complements kadri's perfectly.

ok, not last season, but Brad Ross did get called up a few season ago as a fill in, I'm sure of it.

Seeing as you're from Oshawa, did you go to the game?

Ross was a 2010 draft pick I believe.

He's never played for the Leafs and, as a 2010 draftee, is only entering his second season as Leafs property.

sounds like a terrible pairing when u consider their styles....

Agree. Percy had his moments like his two nice defensive plays in the 2nd. He also looked very calm with the puck in the defensive zone, even with forecheckers breathing down his neck. As did Gardiner and Blacker (loved the spin move). The rest of our defenders kind of sucked.

Gardiner was quiet but solid until the 3rd, but man oh man, did he ever take over the play on the last goal. He does need to work on his interviewing skills, though.

I didn't think Frattin looked overly impressive, especially not for someone who some people believe should be with the big club over Kadri to start the season. He was all right, but nothing special. Most of our forwards were invisible, except for maybe Carrick, he had his moments.

I liked both of the goalies, too. Owuya was very aggressive chasing down loose pucks, and handled the puck fairly well behind the net. Sparks looked a bit shaky at times, but neither goals were on him.

P.S: I missed the first period, so comments are based on the 2nd & 3rd.

Some quick thoughts -

Gardiner was awesome in the last 10 minutes of play and maybe a bit more, but I thought he was pretty brutal in the time before that. His defensive work was quite weak, and he was not very efficient in getting the puck out of the zone. That said, his two goals were awesome and redemptive in my judgement.

Blacker I think could be a damn good player if he continues progressing. He seems determined every shift. My favourite player from the game.

Olden really shows his skills from time to time, and played very well defensively though he was positioned as a winger this game when playing Carrick. Still looks a bit undersized in hsi frame.

I liked Broll as well. Liked to hit the other team at every opportunity and did well to anticipate where his next hit was likely to be found. Pretty good skater too.

Crescenzi's skating looked to be improved from last year, where his skating seemed more like some slow moving mech robot.

Kenny Ryan was really solid as well.

That's it.

From what i seen, i think Kenny Ryan will develop into one amazing Two Way player. I think that we will eventually have our Kaberle replacement in Jake Gardiner if we develop him properly and Jesse Blacker seems like he can be a really good Top 4 defense man with high upside and character.

Jesse Blacker in my opinion was the best player for the Leafs during the game

our rookies look massive (size wise) compared to theirs. also, they like to hit. gardiner stepped up big time towards the end, good on him.

It wasn't the shot that people are excited about.
