Dive Dive Dive!

The more I read about the upcoming draft class the more I think we need to add one of top three to our arsenal!
What say you?
I hope we make a development season out of it for some of the kids but still end up low enough to grab one of these guys!!

I actually thought this was going to be an homage to the Canucks.

This is stupid. I am tired of losing. The losing attitude on the team and this board has to stop. Getting Hall and RNH was great. I can't stand 1 more year of this, the team needs a winning culture and winning attitude.

If they do finish in the bottom 5 this year it's not the worst thing to happen, but definitely not something that we should hope for in august. I wanna see some wins and some growth.

and this is where I do my usual rant of late

"SOme people here have fallen in Love with high draft picks"

after back to back first overall picks we need to start moving forward and making moves to head up in the standings

actaully planning for a bottom 3 finish now is counter productive

At this point I think things just need to play out naturally. If the team is good enough to make the playoffs we need to make a push. If the team struggles and finishes in the bottom 5 then that's what we need. You can't hold back a team that's ready to win though.

It's certainly tittilating to think of having Yakupov or Murray skating with the oilers this time next year, but we really have got to get our winning attitude back. If the first two years of Hall and Eberle's careers are going to be 30th place finishes, they may get the impression that the franchise is not headed anywhere soon and will be hesitant to re-sign after their ELC's are over, in favour of signing with a contender.

the kids can not get used to losing--at some point in time losing becomes more then just falling in the standings it starts damaging the players psychii

I'm with JTS. Not to mention this time last year we were supposed to be drafting the next Lidstrom. Things change that quickly.

It has some allure.

Just go back and look at the Pens' run of 1rst round picks. It goes back even further than MAF. Don't forget, they drafted Orpik & Whitney as high end picks before that and while Whitney isn't there anymore, Orpik, is an instrumental piece to their team.

And believe me...I am certain we NEED a defenceman similar to Orpik in order to win a Stanley Cup.

Thing is...there is nothing saying we can't sign a guy like Orpik...or better yet...sign Orpik...or...Plan 'C'...trade for him.

See...

We don't NEED to DRAFT every single piece of a Championship team.

Therefore...we don't NEED to continue to SUCK.

With the looks of the Oilers' suspect Defence and goaltending going into the season, I don't think we have to worry about missing out on getting a high end prospect in the 2012 draft.

Yay.......

Count me in this group too.

As far as planning on getting a lottery pick, NO. JUST NO!

If I have to sit through another season of a sad sack, suck ass team finishing in last place, I'm going to lose it! I expect us to be at the very least competitive. That said, I expect us to have a top 10 pick.

I definitely think that a top 5 pick would be just what the doctor ordered for the long haul for this team. Ideally a top end defenseman or another potential 1C would be great. If Hemsky isn't in the long term plans I'd love to move him at the deadline and add a mid 1st to add another solid player to the arsenal. IMO the 2012 draft will be the last one that we draft in the top 10 for quite some time, may as well make the most of it.

First thought (as other states), "Canuck's pre-game white board?"

Actually it's quite the opposite. I think this is the perfect draft to improve to somewhere just out of the lottery and still get a top notch prospect.
The team has to show progress this year without question.

Ryan Murray would be the perfect addition to this nucleus, IMO.

Craig Button (yes, I know) had him ranked only sixth on his draft preview. If that holds true, that might be the perfect storm; the team starts to improve a little and still manages to grab its future no. 1 defenseman.

After that, screw the draft and start planning the parade route.

Trolling? Anyways I'm not sure if this is a typo but I'll just correct you. The bolded is not true. He would not still draft Hall and has said so on TV that he thinks Seguin will be better.
