Is there an official rule for face-off wins?

Don't know, if this is the right place to ask that question, but maybe there are some official scorekeepers or statisticians around here, who can answer this question:

Is there an official rule, when a player should be awarded a face-off win? Of course, it is obvious at times, but some face-offs are not, so I wondered, whether there is an official procedure.

Thanks in advance.
