SWhyno: Soberg is trying to decide whether he's playing in Europe or North America this year - that's why he isn't [at rookie camp], #Caps spokesman says.

shawnmullin: Official word from the @SCBroncos: G Steffen Soberg has returned home to deal with some personal issues and they are hopeful he will return.

Traktor wins 3-2 in a SO.

Kuznetsov scores in the SO.

2 PIMS and 19:48 TOI

20 minutes a night in the KHL >>>>>> anything in the AHL. Kuzya took the right decision

Too soon for me, even more so with this morning's news, but moving on.

I was reading Drinnan's blog earlier and he was speculating about whether Brandon Anderson might be traded by Lethbridge since the Hurricanes traded for Ketlo.

http://gdrinnan.blogspot.com/

Also, here's the Lethbridge blog about the acquisition of the overage goalie.

So, it's looking like Grubauer and Anderson will be the goalies for the rookie game again this year? Meh. Was hoping I'd get to see Soberg.

Cue Strungout singing Dennis Leary circa 1993.

@Strung: Way, way, waaaayyy too soon, although I can only imagine what distasteful joke Steigerwald has cooked up for the first time someone dives against the Pens. The Hobey Baker comment was one of the two or three most brutal jokes I've ever heard made during a sports telecast.

Think I missed it at some point, but wasn't Kuz not going to be ready for the start of the KHL season?

In the summer you had a surgery on your shoulder. Is it healed?
Yes, completely. Now we have to bring my muscles in shape. Preseason games showed that it's difficult for me so far. I can play well the first two shifts, and then it's going downhill. You want to do twice as much to return to the same level, but the muscles have atrophied, and you realize how bad it is. You start rushing it. Plus I gained extra weight, but gradually I'll train myself for the better. Pretty soon I'll look like a hockey player.

Kuznetsov w/ a goal, but it looks like Traktor is going down 5 - 1. Late in the 3rd

Edit: Traktor loses 5 - 1

Soberg staying in Europe:

Quote:
http://www.washingtontimes.com/blog/...taying-europe/

“My only reason for going home is that I don’t want to be there,” he said. “I have told them from the beginning that I don’t want to be there. I’m not depressed or anything like that, I just don’t want to be there.”

Asked by the newspaper about this burning a bridge with the Caps as far as an NHL future, Soberg reportedly was not concerned.

”It won’t ruin anything for me,” he said. “They have told me that they don’t view me as a bad prospect if I choose to play outside of North America, but they would have preferred that I play in North America. I’m not at all ruling out that I will play over there sometime in the future, but right now I just don’t want to be there.”
Kuznetsov goal was a PS

Today Kuznetsov played 15:28, had 1 SOG, but no points as Traktor beat Yugra 4-1

I'm fine with Kuznetsov staying this season. When he signs his entry level contract, I would like to see them get the best value for the $.

So... my buddy got 4 tix for "B-more classic". Looking forward to see some live hockey, plus no hustle getting to the game. Should be fun, is anybody else going?

Any further updates on where Soberg plans to play this season? Isn't it getting kind of late for him not to have made a decision on that?
