Bishai, DiCas, Caron signed

Couple of minor signings here. Interesting that they got Caron signed too.

Well well well...so Caron's on board now is he? Maybe he's a bit more interested in a hockey career than some people gave him credit for. Not sure how successful he'll be at it, but it's a start.

Ya it will be interesting to see how he does. I sort of wrote him off as a wasted pick but now we'll find out. I would like to hear from someone who has seen him recently. At least Lowe is trying to get all his ducks in a row. I look for the oil th have a much better season.

i read that he had 6 points in 35 games last year at college. Hmmmm. Could be a Winchester type. A bit of a project. :bonk:

Winchester came on very nicely in the second half of last season for the runners. Realistically I think he could end up as a big, physical 3rd or 4th line center. That's not fantastic - but we certainly could use one of those.

Good to see Bishai signed. Won't be a regular most likely, but a great depth guy to have.

what's the deal with the caron signing?

are they just trying to get something out of him because he was somewhat of a high pick?

No, he wants to turn pro and the club feels he's ready and that he'll be a better pro than college player. Better for his development. Simple as that.

He was a big scoring power forward before he went to college, now he's a checking power forward... maybe the Oilers can bring him back if they are controlling him.

Wasn't that Mikhnov or am I thinking about someone else?

yeah, that was Mikhnov. It just seemed like Caron was on the same career path, and I was wondering if there are any remote tractor-manufacturing communes in New Hampshire.

let's put it this way... college wasn't doing anything for his hockey development, so the Oilers may as well get their hands on him.

I just don't know what he was thinking when he decided to transfer to Yale and then back again. Oh well, at least we're making decisions for him now and not the other way around.

All I know is that if I had a choice between a free ride at Yale or New Hampshire, I'd easily pick Yale. Perhaps the kid had other plans, aside from hockey. Who knows?

Who knows why he went to Yale?!? YOU do, if you read this interview with Eddie from last February that is.

Thanks for the backup, Guy. Definitely read that interview.

I guess the "who knows" bit of it comes as an afterthought after seeing his future move from one school, to another, back to the original, and then out of school altogether and into the pros. From experience, it's easy to understand how one's career path/plans can change so quickly from one moment to the next. Lucky kid, to have so many options open to him at such a young age.

I gathered one of his prime aims was to get some good schooling in there, and it's a bit disappointing to see him leave it altogether halfway to the finish (unless I'm missing something here). It says a lot to me when a person finishes what they start. That said, he could always clean up sometime down the road. Seems to me, however, that he would've been best served from both standpoints - education & hockey - had he completed one program fully.

But if he's got it in him to make it all the way to the pros at this point, all the more power to him.

Random guess... Bishai and Dis probably around the $400k mark, caron probably around $250k (all 2 way deals).
