I didn't catch much of the first game, was he a forward on Saturday?

Glad to see McKegg showed up. Very nice goal by him.

But yeah, that sens team is stacked. Difficult game to win.

That's disgusting. Don't they teach players to carry a towel these days?

Uh no, just pointing out he was a stand-out on defense for the Leafs.

Players tend to be real nice when they score....it's when they don't that they show their true colour. Remember how Kessel got with the press when he was cold for a long stretch? Not as nice than after a hat trick

No poop.

How would you feel if the world had a camera on you while you worked and then asked you over and over and over again how come you suck at your job? And then twist the answers for greater impact.

There are very few Craig Conroy's in the game who are that open with their thoughts.

Someone a while ago was going on and on about how Devane should go back to junior as an overager which seems very silly now.

Comparing with last year's camp Carrick and Nicholls are way ahead of where they were, looking confused and physically overmatched. It isn't all that easy a tournament for the 18 year olds like Leivo and Broll.

I like Olden, you can see the raw potential in his game, he has excellent speed, skill, and vision. He needs to learn to shoot just a tad more but I think this year in North America will be good for him. He was playing right in traffic and keeping the puck for the most part in the two games so far.

Well said. Nothing I hate more than a player in a slump being unhappy about it.

yea good point, kessel should have been overjoyed during his slump

i mean, this team has a lack of niceness problem, not a lack of winning problem

Devane was a toss up because he really only had 3/4s of 1 good season. I think he is showing he can play at the next level and not just be a goon but chip in too, after this camp I can't see him going back to Jrs unless he really ****s the bed the rest of the way.

The issue to me is playing time. I doubt there is any room for Devane to play anything more than a 4th line role with the Marlies. I think we might as well cling to the hope of him becoming a Lucic-type after his offensive breakout last year, so we should give him a scoring role somewhere.

He'd probably get that opportunity in the ECHL, where I personally think he should play considering he's certainly physically ready. However, I also tend to doubt an overage year can ever be damaging to a player's development.

Yep, context is very important to keep in mind when watching these games.

Not damaging but I don't see it as being beneficial if Devane can swat away opposing players with ease, he is built like a man and should be playing with men.

It'll be interesting to see where Devane AND Kenny Ryan both end up this year. Based on this tournament, they have both really improved and could step in and play in the AHL..but, when you look at the potential roster for the Marlies its a pretty decent forward group. Since both of them really improved on there production last season (especially 2nd half of the year), it might make sense for them both to go back as overagers and try to pickup where they left off.

Well, Devane has only really had a half season of junior hockey where he's been a productive player. He's very tall, but still looks like he's got some filling out to do before making the jump to the pro's, especially the NHL. I would imagine that he will fight less if he goes back to junior, which might give him more opportunity to concentrate on the rest of his game.

was surprised the announcer didn't even announce his name once....it's good for a defensemen for that but not a forward.

He's maybe getting too old and turning to be a bust.

I forgot to mention this because of all my excitment yesterday. At the game last night when I saw Gardiner @ the restaurant, I asked if I could get a picture w/ him, after he said yes, he then asked me... "Do you want Blacker in as well"?

Grr!!! I'm beating myself up for forgetting to ask this question to Gardiner. "What NHLer do you model your play after?"

What are the chances I'll ever see him again to get a chance to talk with him.
