To argue the wording on that one tweet to death on our parts seems very silly to me, and the fact that he offered clarification should be more than enough to put that to bed.

And a sports commentator stirring up controversy -- my heavens!

Never been his biggest fan, and find the entire Leafs headspace (team, fans and media alike) to be a ghastly place, but he has earned a new measure of respect from me for standing up here and giving reasonable responses to the usual HF overreaction.

I think it is pretty cool.
Nothing will EVER be better then the guy who criticized Bob McKenzie's draft lists only to have Bob himself come in here...

I agree its cool he's posting on the boards.

Refinance will Probably be Fine as long as the cash inflow is still steady and the arena retained value. If they aren't cashout refi and just a rate change, id expect no issues. But I didn't do much commercial loans so they might be different.

Yes, yes, praise be on Mr. Mirtle for so kindly taking the time out of his busy schedule to come argue with us

I thought I was as mature as possible. Even though I understand that ultimately what I was talking about with him was unimportant, I still wanted to take the chance to see how he'd react to being called out. Call it immature if you want, but I've built up a frustration towards "journalists" of his ilk and I wanted that known without going off JR style.

If he was a regular poster on these boards using the same tactics to stir up controversy, I'd treat him the same way. Just because he has a lot of followers does not mean I'm going to treat him differently. I respect him a bit more now that he came here and actually listened to us, but I still completely disagree with the way he goes about his job most times. Him coming here doesn't change that.

A week ago, there were some serious questions raised about the New Jersey Devils' finances. The belief is the minority owners who wanted to sell their shares was asking too much. Now, the story to watch for is if a lower price will find a new buyer or those owners simply pay Jeff Vanderbeek to take full control.

Interesting note from Elliot Friedman's 30 thoughts article. I'm going to guess the bankruptcy story may have came from Vanderbeek (or a Vanderbeek proxy) to get Brick City to come down on price.

Like I said before everything gets "leaked" for a purpose.

That wouldn't surprise me at all. Of course, I doubt the Post will report this.

McKenzie used to come around with some regularity. Haven't seen him in a while though.
