I don't think you can find a person or fan in the entire league that truly hates Callahan. A great guy that actually does give 200% on the ice and would do anything for his team.
Plus he's American!
Staal is a logical choice for an "A" as he is our defensive anchor, and I can understand Richards over Dubinsky--which I really didn't care either way.
No surprise. This is what I posted in the other thread on how I thought it would turn out.
With Richards getting the 'A' over Dubinsky, Richards is everything you want in a leader. He's a winner, he's got the experience, and he's been a leader his whole career. It also probably helped the decision that Tortorella had him in Tampa Bay, where he also wore an 'A'. The Rangers have two younger leaders having the other two letters so I think it makes a lot of sense to have a veteran who's a proven leader get the last one.
Dubinsky has leadership qualities for sure, but as commonly said, he doesn't have to wear a letter to be a leader. Let him focus on his game, as he will be one of the most important players on the team this year. He can still lead by example without a letter too.
As a Devils fan, I would rather have seen Dubinsky get the 'A' than Richards. Even though it might not be a big thing, to me it seems a bit disrespectful towards Dubinsky having his 'A' stripped by a "new guy".

The team knows who the leaders are, they don't have to wear an A.

He didn't have it stripped, he was never appointed it in the first place. Dubi wore an interim A.
Last year it was
C- Drury
A - Cally
A - Prospal
However all 3 were injured at various points of the season. Staal was the first interim and Dubi was the second.
It's not disrespectful in the slightest as Dubi has still proven to be somewhat inconsistent. He shouldn't get a letter until he shows that he is a full-time leader. The other 3 have proven that, whether with the Rangers or not.
Why? Because he's been a ranger longer? The rangers are in the business of winning a cup, not appeasing the fan base with letters. Richards has a cup, a conn smyth and a winning personality. He's a proven leader.
The gravitational field of his giant noggin will pull them ever closer to the Stanley Cup.
I've heard great stuff about him! Congratulations.
But yet apparently he is the least skilled captain correct?
Either you made that statement because you don't know much about him or how can he be the least skilled captain when you only hear good things about him?

I'm a Rangers fan and I'll admit he isn't the highest skilled player. He's probably in the bottom 3 skill wise of captains around the league, but that doesn't make him a bad player.

Yea, he isn't that skilled, but he does everything else.

I know, I admit that he's not the most skilled player out there. However, if he played a full year the guy would be close to a 30-30 guy and that's far from unskilled.
Now what I was arguing was that in the other thread he said that Callahan is the least skilled captain in the league, and that's bull.
