Got a bad gut feeling on this one. Maybe I've just been kicked around too much what with ownership, a gut wrenching game 7 defeat, and a sweep. Also the Mueller and Wheeler fiascos. Maybe even throw in the inexplicable confidence in Mike Smith from the FO
Part of the problem is too, lets say he does decide to stick it out and go through his RFA years. You know he's bolting when he hits UFA. Sort of defeats the whole purpose of drafting a franchise center.
In case he goes we need to draft the highest center possible in the next draft or at least the next best player. I would love to get our hands on Florida's 1st and a 3rd in next seasons draft if they bomb with all of those signings they had to make in order to get to the cap floor.
I'm a BPA guy so I'm not fixated on drafting a center. We should be able to move some of these D prospects later.
As for the draft itself, well I wouldn't be worried about acquiring a pick from a bad team because I'm quite sure we'll be bottom 6. But hey I'm negative, I thought the Dbacks would find a way to collapse all the way up till midway through last month.
He has made a pretty uncomfortable situation for himself but He must be starting to realize he has made a mistake. I say he comes crawling back and DM does the gentlemanly thing and downplays all this noise to the media and Kyle signs before training camp.

He should blame and fire his agent and then re-sign...
We had the Gravy Sucking pig in Walt, now it looks like we have the Gravy Sucking Piglet in Turris. Seriously if he does not sign by training camp, I hope they let him sit and rot for a year or two. Enough is enough, a message needs to be sent.
Having said that to the OP's point, I dont see him playing for us again. This reeks of playing for a trade.

At least GSP did something.. This kid is delusional.. He needs to dump his agent and sign..
I'd be shocked if Turris doesn't sign a $ 1.5 M, 1-year deal this week with a heavy performance-based bonus.
Someone he trusts needs to explain to him he's on the right development path and would throw away 3 years of hard work and put his NHL career in jeopardy by waiting any longer. Maloney and Tippett must be fuming right now.

Which is why I wonder how things will work out even if he does sign. GMDM and DT aren't going to forget about this -- if what we have heard is true -- anytime soon. If he doesn't play exceptional; he is going to really understand what it means to be in the doghouse.
Maloney does hold grudges. Ask Bryzgalov(Maloney was quick to publicly mock his demands and cast him in a negative light), Lombardi(same, and he told him to kick rocks later that same summer after criticizing his demands) and Winnik(Maloney hinted around the arbitration when he moved Winnik).
Even if Turris does come to his senses, he's probably on borrowed time.
If Turris comes to his senses and agrees to a deal in the next three days then I think everything will be alright, on all sides of this mess. Anything longer than that then my guess is while GMDM may not actively shop Turris around he will certainly not hesitate to include him in a deal for a player he wants.
If Turris does decide to miss any part of camp then I will be hoping beyond hope that Miele is the real deal or that O'Sullivan has a miraculous comback and blows everyone away at camp to remove any last shred of leverage Turris may think he has.
As for my actual prediction: Turris misses part of camp, signs a one year deal, plays and has a year only slightly better than last and is dealt around the draft.
Bah, as long as Turris shows enough respect to this team to sign before then end of camp, this is nothing one good season can't erase. Score 40-50 points, steal the top center position and sign that $ 3.5 M / yr, 3-year contract next season.

The 2005 CBA restricted performance bonuses to a subset of NHL players. Turris isn't eligible for a contract with performance bonuses.
Only players allowed to get perf bonuses are:
a) Rookies on their first NHL contract
b) 35+ year old veterans signing 1 year contracts
c) Players that spent significant periods of time on the IR their last NHL season, also restricted to 1 year contracts
If he doesn't sign by the weekend, Maloney will let him sit until he signs a reasonable contract, before actively shopping him. No team will sign him to an offer sheet, but may call to see about availability and trade worth. Maloney will not trade him unless he gets a fair (in his opinion) value.
I thought I was delusional, but this is beyond comprehensible.
21 years old and willing to get a reputation. Not very smart.
Europe won't sign him for that much, and he would hate Russia.
I really don't see any viable options. Play or don't play, that's it.
If he wanted out, he should have made it known to Maloney at the end of the season. Now he looks like a spoiled putz kid that feels he should be giving everything and not have to earn it.
Realistically, $1.5mil is a lot of money. And he is willing to sit out for more??? Greed and a bad reputation for someone that hasn't stepped up for a full season yet. Pretty pathetic, and a sad situation that he brought on himself.
But then again I may be wrong about the circumstances, and hope for the KID that I am...
Team chemistry can't be forgotten in all of this either.
If Shane Doan, Daymond Langkow, Ray Whitney, Keith Yandle, Derek Morris, and Adrian Aucoin are all in training camp, busting their *****, while this skinny little snot nosed punk is sitting out because he feels he should be paid like all of them are paid, or even more, that cant sit well. These guys have proven themselves over an entire career. What has this kid ever done? Get drafted? Big ****ing whoop.

Thanks for the info. Bummer...

Don't know about that. As rt said before, sign-and-trade deals aren't don't usually happen in the NHL. Also, I'm willing to bet Turris would sign for less than $ 2 M to play for a playoff team that'll give him top minutes. If Maloney goes the trade route, the contract negotiations would probably be a 3-way conversation between him, Turris's agent and another team.
I'll be outraged if Maloney lets Turris off the hook like he did with Mueller. If we get a second-tier prospect or a couple 2nd or 3rd rounders in return (Turris's current value), I'll never forgive the GM.
