Murray's got a trade set up involving Zib but can't pull it off yet because of the lockout. And the way it's looking right now the WJHC will come and go before we see any NHL hockey. Murray's just playing it safe and not risking potential injury.

My prediction.

So instead of playing him in the wide open ice in russia against kids, he'll stick him in a tiny barn in a league known for physicality with men.

Well played Murray

Yup, like I have said before, draw "absolute conclusions" right now is absolutely retarded.

Where do you think he's more likely to get injured?

Last season just few months after Zibanejad was drafted, he almost made the team and the coach wanted him on the team that it took all 9 games to make a decision. I have a feeling the management loves Mika.

Pretty sure tim then said that the agent came back to him and said what do you think of this? Tim said "in an ideal world" that is what they'd want and so they all agreed that he should stay.

People seem to forget about something called the NHL. I mean even though this lockout is looking like it will never end, there are many in the industry who want to have a shortened season starting in January.

If this season were to start (hopefully), the Sens would most likely want Mika in training camp for the big club, not in Europe playing in a tournament he has already played in.

Food for thought i guess.

This.

I don't even know if I'd be able to get myself pumped for like 3 months of hockey. I'll stick with the 67s the rest of the year regardless of whether or not the NHL is back. **** em.

BM is not in the business of trading away 1st round draftees... look at his track record. And besides that, his drafting is light years than his trading...

Zibby is not getting traded, that's ridiculous.

As for the decision on him for the WJC, there's nothing he (Zibby) has not done at @ the WJC level, to continue his progress and goals which is the NHL, he needs to continue playing with men, not Jr's...

I like this decision, better to continue learning the grind of the pro game and playing more than 3 games a week with Richardson than to to go play less games on a larger ice surface where he is confortable.

To improve, you need to work on your weaknesses...

Really? Really? Really?

I think he meant he's not in the business of trading 1st Rd picks that his draft team selected.

Ie: Karlsson, Cowen, Zibanejad, Noesen, Puempel, Ceci.

All of the pieces you mentioned were inherited.

Wow, lots of negativity here crying bust and questioning the decision to go to the WJC. He's one of 5 teenagers currently playing in the AHL (4th youngest player I think) and what does he have to accomplish at the juniors? The guy scored the gold medal winning goal in overtime last year, he needs to get used to NHL ice against men, not play against kids again.

He'll be good, stop judging players on small samples and adjustment periods.

Hmm..

Agreed, though. Hockey-wise you can't really argue the decision, but it might be good for him to score a few goals against weak competition.

Although, if that was the reason he'd go, he might as well go to Elmira, so unless he really wanted to go, can't see the point.

Zibanejad is a scratch because of the Couties.

He won't play, but it's actually not because of the Couties. He just did something with his teeth and/or is ill, don't know which one is the main thing stopping him tonight or if both would be no-go's.

Not to mention they were somewhat developed (with the exception of Rundblad). Being a first round draft pick shouldn't mean they are immune from trades.
