I thought about that too, but what team is more likely to make unnecessary runs?

exactly, this isn't really a fair matchup to beging with, however, this is a FANTASTIC opportunity to test Pitlick, Lander, Marincin, Tyrvainen etc. against near-AHL level competition and see what they're able to do. All of those guys will probably be in the AHL this year or next (in marincin's case) so having them beat up on scrubs isn't going to gauge their readiness.

cant really blame the goalie on either of the goals. He made a great first save on the initial shot and was probably out of position for the rebound. 2nd goal was a great roof job.

Not a very impressive showing for anyone so far. Why did Martindale have to hurt himself? He could single-handedly make this game worth watching.

Tammy is honestly the worst at his job. It's like he has Broca's aphasia.

On paper we should still be better then this flames lineup. Im sure the Oilers will pick it up in the 2nd. Flames team is the worst in this tourney. There is no way we should be getting our @$$ handed to us. Time to shift gear.

least skilled I'd agree with that, but they have probably the oldest (and therefore most seasoned) group AND a large portion of this team has already played together. They know what they're doing out there as a group and it's obvious that they're getting the most of out their limited ability and it's winning because the Oilers have no overcome that.

This is also the least skilled Oilers' group iced so far and despite some quality lines (the top 6 and top defence pairing are, on paper, very strong) they haven't come together as a group and dictated the speed and space allowed.

Like Stauffer said. Hamilton has been underwhelming all tournament long. He's playing like old Martindale. Its like Martindale and Hamilton changed hearts. lol

I hate giving the flames props for anything (other than their occassional ability to fail spectacularly) but they're earning this win by simply out-playing the Oilers right now. They're doing what they need to do to neutralize the Oilers' skill and the oilers are not pushing back enough to really challenge the flames. Yes, the Flames are icing a pretty crummy (in terms of skill and potential) group but they're keeping things simple and utilizing their skillset to the best of their ability.

I disagree. Match him up head to head with Scheifele was a good idea. Match him up against a team with an axe to grind? Pass.

Agreed, IMO we stacked the odds against our guys in the hopes that they'd show us what they've got. So far, not so good, that said they've got 2 periods to right the ship and put their stamp on the game.

No doubt, we have some speedy forwards yet we haven't gotten much going in transition.

Hamilton has had some moments, but I'd like to see more. Maybe the kid is just a slow starter? Last year I was very unimpressed with him at rookie camp.

I wouldn't say that he has struggled the whole tournament. He was very good in the first game but has struggled in the last 2 games for sure.

One can also argue that this is the most skilled lineup that we have iced. Just need our D to be rock solid like they can and our offensive guys to light it up.

No RNH, no Martindale, no Fedun, no Bunz, no Roy, how is this the most skilled lineup that we have iced again?

I would disagree because of the lack of RNH, Martindale and Teubert, but it's not a huge step down from the previous two groups.

Excellent opening shift to start things, but they need to keep it up.

How is this our most skilled lineup without RNH, Martindale and our 2 best goalies?

Fedun has been greasing the wheels of that defence and the transition game. Without him this team is having some serious issues on the counterattack.

Ortio is doing a lot of what Bunz did to the Jets yesterday.
