I was afraid that that was the case .... same predicament as Sid, without all the publicity.

Why is BWC still ripping on Stalberg? He's making pennies for the next two years. Let it go man.

I hope, I hope, I hope. But considering how much Bowman and Q have dropped his name this summer, it seems unlikely for some reason. Don't know what they see in the guy.

I guess, because Bowman's (seemingly) made so few mistakes since taking over as GM that BWC has to find the negative somewhere, and he finds it in the Versteeg trade even though Bowman's hand was forced..

Salak probably faced the least chances but it was obvious how quick his legs are and he did a really good job setting up for shots and making himself look big. Salak is going to win the backup job running away; even my gf noticed how much more talented and better he is than Emery. Mattsson wasn't really tested, didn't play much. The star of the show in G for me was Caruth. He showed nice reflexes on a couple glove saves. I was really impressed with him because I was expecting him to be more a shot blocker but he's got some skills and I think he has a bright future with Hawks, could definitley be a future backup. I'm excited to follow his progress.

As for the rest of the team, two guys really stood out. The first being Toews, great breakaway goal, had an extra gear out there. The other guy who played like a man amongst boys was Saad. I came in with high expectations seeing him for the first time in person and he did not disappoint at all. He reminds me of Hossa with the way he controls the puck. Everyone on his team was looking for him and he carried the puck a lot on the rush. Like I said, the guy is very stong on the puck. Now as far as in the offensive zone, he reminds me of Amonte. He's always looking to drive to the net and dazzle the goalie with stick moves. The Hawks got a hell of a player with the No. 43 pick and no doubt this guy is going to be a Blackhawk in a year or two and while I haven't got to see many of the other players from the draft yet, I feel very confident in saying Saad was one of the top 10 or 15 guys picked and the top 5 projections people were giving him a year ago were completely warranted.

You're basing this off one practice? Not to say Salak wasn't better but I think it's a bit too early to make this prediction.

No, I'm basing it on watching Emery's career and knowing he is a mediocre NHL goalie, and that was before his devastating injury. He went on a nice run with the Ducks last year but this is not a guy we want. If Salak can just be competitent, I think he's got it in the bag. We'll see, but I've seen plenty of Emery and want no part of seeing him in regular season games that we can't afford to lose.

Emery's side to side movment with Ducks last year was bad ,, The injuries have made him the slowest post to post netminder in NHL IMO

I am hopeful Salak takes #2 job and given his recent play in Fin league , AHL and then SEL last year I have no doubts he will

At the TC i noticed..

Toews was a couple notches above every player on the ice.

Emery looked really shakey...I was rooting for emery to make the team becuase i think he would bring character to the lockerroom but im not so sure after seeing todays performance.

The only time i noticed Lepisto was when he was turning the puck over...which is not a good thing

Saad looked like a pro already...one of the best players on the ice

Keith had an extra gear compared to most (outside of toews)

Carcillo is gunna be a great addition...doesnt take any garbage..saw somewhere that bollig challenged him but he didnt fight so hes got some kind of filter on himself.

Curruth was great...didnt see that coming

Leddy looked like he could definatly find that extra gear that we are going to need him to have this year.

Thanks. On the side of Chicago was the information

Due to NHL broadcast restrictions, the Blackhawks-Oilers preseason game will only be available in the Edmonton and Chicago metropolitan areas
I understand that now obsolete?

It would be nice to see Hawks again on ice in a match against another team

I'm real interested to see Saad in pre-season games. The guy seems to have his motor running at 110% everywhere he goes since the Hawks drafted him. Could he be this year's Nick Leddy? Early last summer most of us would have laughed at the idea that Leddy was going to make the team.

What players do you like? Seems like you hate everyone on the hawks.

Mike Richards was said to be a locker room distraction would you be opposed to him as our 2nd line center? Sometimes you take chances to get the right mix of people and players.

When I was doing research on this years prospects Saad stood out so much despite his drop in the rankings. I think the guy has all the tools, and I think he's hungry. I had him pegged then to be our 1st round pick, and in hindsight I think you would be hard pressed to find someone that disagrees.

ill admit though, I actively did not like Danault, and something about the way he plays still does not sit well with me, but he's bringing his game, so I'm happy to be proven wrong on that count

@Myers
Looks like Patrick Kane will also take part in the Team B practice. Marian Hossa will be back Tuesday in Chicago. He stayed in Slovakia to mourn his best friend Pavol Demitra.

Most importantly, that Patrick was ready to open season.

@Myers
Jeremy Morin is going through the drills like everyone else. Whether he plays in upcoming scrimmage, not sure yet.

I like many Hawks players

And Emery's past is not some PR spin ,, Hell look up the vid of him and trainer in KHL on YT

Emery has long history of off ice/lockerroom issues

Don't see Morin here for the scrimmage. But Kane is, with Team B. Line with McLean and Leblanc.

Emery vs. Salak in net for this scrimmage
