Robbie Schremp Interview... taking your questions

OK, I did this a lot last summer and was going to go away from it this year but I figured I'd give you guys the chance to give me some input.

I will be talking to Robbie Schremp tonight... yes, short notice I know but that's the way it goes.

If you want me to ask Robbie a question for you, get it in NOW. Put it here or click on my name and PM it to me (not email).

I have already talked to Robbie and covered topics like Mississauga and the trade request as well as the playoff benching last season in London so I will NOT be taking those questions. Anything else is fair game, so let'er rip.

My question would be what he felt was the biggest thing that he needed to or needs to work on in preparation for his first oiler training camp. And also what he learned from his week in Edmonton with Pendergast. Thanks

What do you feel are your strengths?

What do you feel are you weaknesses?

What are your impressions of the WJC camp so far?

How confident are you about making the USA squad?

I have a 2 tier question:

How would you evaluate your own performance at the recent USA Junior camp, and what factors were behind such a performance? How will this affect your confidence and mindset of making the Oilers entering into your first NHL camp?

Cheers!

When do you think you'll be ready for the NHL?

What was your impression of Edmonton on your trip here?

What is your impression of the Oilers organization and where do you see yourself fitting in?

Given the well documented confidence that you carry, what is your mindset as you prepare to walk into your first NHL dressing room (should camp go ahead) and how do you picture fitting in to the team hierarchy at these early stages of your career.

Hypothetically if you were in the starting line up this year, would you have specific goals set for yourself and if so what would they be?

It was pretty widely reported that Schremp was swearing up a storm in his interviews, which is rather odd seeing as its kind of like a job interview.

I'm curious what Schremp see's his development timeline as being like. How quickly does he feel he will be in the NHL and how dedicated is he to remaining an Oiler long term?

If you can provide a link to these "widely reported" incidents, great, I'll ask. If not, that's just slanderous.

How tough was it to sit there through 20 odd picks and 2 hours without any idea of when your name would be called? Were you surprised that the Rangers passed you over twice, along with Buffalo, the Devils and the Islanders?

Guy

could u ask him if he thought the oilers were one of the teams he would go too at the start of the draft. And did he know the oilers were really intrested in him?

Where you glad that the Oilers drafted you?

If you were to compare yourself to a current NHL player, who would it be?
(I know it's corny and probably covered elsewhere but...)

Good questions so far everybody. I'd like you to start thinking ahead more though too, not so much on what has happened but what's ahead for him. He's going to have answered the draft questions a billion times already.

Anyway, I'm sure you, and the other posters here can come up with better questions for Robbie than myself, but one thing I'd be interested in hearing, although I'm not sure you'd get a straight answer for it is if you asked him what he's going to value most in his NHL career? Make fat cash, loyalty to his team, win lots of cups, be the best playe ever... Not sure if that works as a question though.

Also, another question that would be good is, "How many points do you think you'll be scoring in the NHL on average?" Once again, you'd probably get some jokingly fresh comment like 280 with a straight face or something, but who knows, he may give a straight answer on it.

Even if you don't ask these ones (which I'm kinda doubting), I very much look to reading the interview. Schremp is my favourite Oil prospect in a long time.

Hi Guy, I am really looking forward to this story. Caught your contributions in the August issue if the Edmonton Sport Scene? today. Nice writing.

I am interested in knowing if Robbie Schremp thinks there are any lessons left for him in junior hockey. I would also like to know if he will be happy to return to London given the fact that he was benched in the last game of the season or if he would like the Oilers to help him with a trade to another team. Thanks.

1. What do you think your chances are of making the big club out of training camp?

2. If you had to choose, would you rather make the big club but play a limited role on the 3rd or 4th line - or would you rather go to the minors and get 1st line ice-time.

3. Which of the current Oilers would you be most interested in playing alongside?

I know you wont like this one but it cant be all rosy yada yada either.

I'd like to know what he thinks of being ranked as the Oilers #2 prospct by HF when he couldnt make the US junior team last year and couldnt score in the tournament just over. Count this as one Oiler fan who's from Missouri.

What kind of player do you see yourself as? A playmaker, sniper, all around player?
