The signing bonus is lockout/strike insurance. He collects it on July 1, 2012. The CBA expires on September 15, 2012.

"I feel pretty and witty and bright!"

I mean, if we are sticking to the script.

Edit: Not that we are, of course.

Hmmm, I thought maybe people would be hollering more about circumvention too....The reason is he was our player...Not some player they were competing against us for, and we outbid them...

But, what will happen if we take a commanding lead in the East or the NHL altogether ? Then will everyone be hollering ?

Yes, they do, just look at all of their other posts.
All of them begin with that same font styling for some reason and are equally as hilarious.

I remember seeing that post and being really confused initially, but it's even more confusing now.
Myers goes from being a "top young defenseman" to "out of the league in 3 years" in less than a day.

Max salary at age 22 is pretty crazy.

Good luck to any of the other 29 general managers when they have to lock up their young #1's, I guess.
I'm all ears to hear what the dreaded "dangerous precedent" is that this deal is setting.

I think he's implying that in three years Myers will be so awesome that he'll be recruited by the Intergalatic Hockey League to lead the human race against the Zelons from Telos VII.

Tyler Myers. Captain of Team Earth. Mark it.

What does a player like Doughty, who has had a similar impact while additionally being the second youngest Norris finalist ever and winning an Olympic gold medal at age 20, deserve?
Two or three of max salary, maybe even more?
It's just ridiculous and dangerous to be paying out that kind of money at any point during a second contract.

Some people need to learn how to read or comprehend things before *****ing.
You can't like the deal and hate the structure. They go hand in hand.

Who cares how this impacts Doughty? Its a great deal for the Sabres and works for us. The impact of this deal on other teams will be whatever it will be. Its called being proactive and setting the market as opposed to waiting for the market to get set for us.

You're making a mountain out of a mole hill.

I understand his concerns to a degree, but the fact that it won't alter salary TOTALS around the league, due to the cap being tied to revenue, means that any complications are minor and specific to one area. Cost of younger players rises? OK, then the cost of veterans falls. In the end, it doesn't much matter. This is the market shifting.

I got this from an article from USA Today.

Quote:
Regier ruled out the chance of opening contract talks this fall with forward Tyler Ennis, who enters the final season of his rookie three-year contract.

Why Darcy why?!?! But nice work on the other Tyler's signing.
