Hedman's next contract

Tyler Myers just signed a 7 year/5.5m a year cap hit, that includes $10m signing bonus.

I can see a lot of signing bonuses extending players this year, payable 7/1/2012, as the players want it in case their is another lockout.

What do think Hedman should/will get?

It depends a lot on his performance this season. So far Myers is ahead of him. Factor in the Yzerman effect and we could see him sign for less than Myers.

If Myers got 5.5

Hedman should get 4.5 at the maximum IMO

No way Hedman has shown he's worth that much. He's still a prospect in many ways.

I see him getting around what his current cap hit is at around like 3.5-3.75. obviously if he gets like 40 points this yearr that goes out the window. But another 25-35 poiint season and i'd say a 4 year deal 3.5 million

If he plays about the same as last year or a little better then I see him signing for actually lower than his current caphit. If he takes his playoff performance and expands it into a full season then I see him getting $4-4.5million.

This. Unless he has a crazy breakout season Ala' Doughty style.

I think he is going to have a breakout year, but its to what extent that is unknown.

That's why I said at maximum.

I am hoping he gets just less than Brewer, 4 years around $3.5 million. Give him some security and let him prove himself before giving him a star contract.

Wow I would be surprised with anything over 3. Then again, everyone is overvalued these days. I just don't see what he has done to earn a big contract. Like mentioned above, let's see what he does this year.

2 years 2.8per.

He's not a star offensively or defensively yet. If he has an incredibly season this year, then we can talk 3+.
