I like Selanne a lot. He's one of those players that pretty much everyone has a liking for and can respect. I'm really glad to see him keep going. Our league wouldn't be the same without him, especially after losing guys like Weight, Recchi, etc. to retirement already this offseason.
80 points in 73 GP in 10-11. No reason to believe he won't repeat that (or come close to it) again this year. He's ageless. He's still got it. $4M for Selanne this year is a bargain. Worth every penny.
I was a season-ticket holder in the Peg when he arrived and watched him develop until Bettman moved the team... Loved Teemu then, love him now (as a Canucks' season ticket holder). Sad that I don't get to see him in Vancouver (no Anaheim games in my package), but stoked that he is back on the ice for one more year (and hopefully another after that!).
Saw many of his 76 goals and saw him with Tie Domi going into one of the strip bars in the Peg back in the day... Wide-eyed Teemu after he saw what the entertainment was!
I'd like to see him crush the 30-goal plateau and believe it is possible with his teammates feeding him the puck on the PP, health issues aside of course.
Not so fast Jagr is back and has a 9 Goal advantage atm
I'm sure this "race" is the only reason Jagr came back
and Teemu getting back how could he stop if the knee still gives him some extra career time and he loves the game still so much plus having the games in Helsinki and Winnipeg is a plus.
The contract also has a no trade clause. Even though I wouldn't believe Bob would trade him in the trade deadline if the Ducks don't make playoffs. This most likely is really the last season for Teemu. (Even though we've heard it for years).
And after the career is over. Teemu stays in OC area (summer's in Finland) and probably will do some work with the Ducks.
Teemu is one of my 3 favorite players of all time. It's difficult to put in words what it means to see a legend of the game play at least one more season. I'm going to enjoy every minute of Selanne playing the amazing speed/skill game he's played for 2 decades.
