i've got 1st overall in my keeper league - these are my options

there's a few players to take of course, but these are realistic ones for 1st overall -

daniel sedin
corey perry
nicklas backstrom (washington)
ilya kovalchuk
brad richards
dustin byfuglin
eric staal
teemu selanne
taylor hall
tyler seguin

these are the big names available. i only consider a few of them worthy of 1st overall but i'd like to hear what HF has to say before i draft.

edit: points are pretty much standard in our league - 1 point for a goal, 1 for an assist. and various bonuses for special teams goals. it is pretty simple.

I don't understand, does your league ban Ovechkin, Stankos, Crosby, etc? If you have 1st overall you'd think one of those guys would be available?

Or is this a semi-keeper of some sort? And if so, how on earth are guys like D. Sedin and Perry available?

If those seriously are your best options, it's Sedin or Perry. If your league doesn't count PIMs, Sedin may be your guy.

Clearly, Teemu Selanne is a stronger option for a keeper league.

I've gotta go with Sedin/Perry for sure. No way to Byfuglien and Selanne. Hall and Seguin would only be reasonable if you thought you were years away from contention, but with so many good players available it seems like this is a kind of semi-keeper, where you could definitely re-tool and challenge any given year.

Backstrom is intriguing but the other two will score more goals for sure, and with bonuses for PPG you've gotta go with one of them. I would say Daniel, he's more likely to get more PPG.

Definitely Daniel or Perry.....another option might be Backstrom, but no way anybody else off that list should be taken ahead of these three.

May as well put this here as its as good of a place as any.

I have the number one pick in our keeper league but unlike the one above, we have 11 keepers in a 12 team league. As such all that is left are your mid level guys.

My question is - Should I take RNH as my pick? Or is there another rookie who will make a quicker impact? I'm also looking to the future as we get to keep 3 rookies aside from our normal 8 players to give us the 11, so looking for a good rookie keeper at the end of the year.

Backstrom's younger than Hall and Seguin? Then either my calculator or my calendar must be busted.

And that plum position earned him that amazing 65 point season last year. Infallible.

I would go with Daniel Sedin because reliable left wingers are harder to find!

I'd go with either Sedin or Backstrom. I personally don't see Perry continuing the kind of production he did last season for some reason.

Nicklas Backstrom easily...WSH will be explosive this year and Ovechkin more fit and more driven than ever before...Backstrom will go between 95-105 pts depending if Ovechkin pkays close to low 100's or 120. Sedin and Perry will be around 85 points. Much rather take Backstrom out of the 3.
