For NHL 18 I want camera options that are placed in different sections of the building. I want to play all of my games in the Prudential Center with the camera view being the view I have from my seats.
And I want to be able to participate in Score-O in the game. And I want it to be Angry Birds style where I release the last shot, know its off, and hit reset before it reaches the net so I can try again.
So is the wrap around goal that seeming goes right through the goalie a confirmed glitch? Cause so far in EASHL opposing teams have been 4 for 4 with it.
To continue the conversation from the last thread, there's more to A.I. than just solid defense. The defense and goalies are better in NHL 12, but offensively, the game still fails to capture the speed and fluidity of hockey. And before you say its just a game, I know it is, but there are other games that can do that. Played the FIFA demo today. Quick one touch passes from Messi to Sanchez to Iniesta who put a scorched into the back of the net. It was like watching Barcelona in real life. CPU anticipated the play perfectly. Can't tell you how many times CPU players just freeze and let pucks go right past their sticks in NHL. And if they do score, its the most awkward looking, unrealistic, physics-defying shot.

Agreed with all of this. They need to find better ways of making players feel like their real life counterparts and making a difference too. My weak Jets team shouldn't have won the Stanley Cup with 10 rookies in the line up, yet they did.

What EA NHL needs is a PES of their own to keep them on their toes. Sadly, there just isn't enough of a demand for hockey games for another developer to jump into the market.

what's funny though is you can get that feel yourself... occasionally. in 11 I did some things that I thought were really awesome. don't remember if I have the videos uploaded or not. (nope) but they really felt like hockey. so you think they would be able to teach the AI through playing the game themselves, or maybe I'm just overrating what is capable of being done.

That's the other thing. In FIFA, big center backs move like the lumbering giants that they are. They run differently than smaller guys, they jump differently, they go down to tackle differently. In NHL, everyone from Gio to Chara skates and moves the exact same way. You can level a guy with Martin St. Louis and dangle through a crowd with Pronger. It's ridiculous, particularly in online play.

lol.... it's true. Tyler Mylers dangling and breaking for the net. Chunked alot of them though because of his stick length
Soccer is about a trillion times easier to recreate in game form than hockey. FIFA is a good game but it's not that realistic - you can pretty much one-touch your way up the field all day with a Championship quality team because it assumes perfect timing and coordination for every player, which obviously is not true.
But I just got NHL 12 and EASHL is a ****show due to the ridiculous hip checks. If you get touched with one at all it's basically a Falcon Punch. Goalies still score on themselves and let in Toskala-esque dumpins from center ice.
Leading 3-2 with about 5 minutes left, some dumbass on my team decides to slash a guy way behind the play, the other team ties it up on the PP. Then with under 2 minutes left he blatantly runs the goalie, costing us the game.

Whats even better is the people who call for the puck from the goalie when theres a crowd around the net. Luckily with NHL12 it has only been me whos done this so far

Im one of the ones who are loving the improvements but I totally understand you. Well I understand everything but that soccer talk Seriously though, I agree and I think making the offense more smooth and realistic than it is now will be their next step for that side of the puck. I have seen a few defensive plays now where my AI D partner plays too far over towards my side of the ice (where the puck is coming down) and when the attacking player did a quick stop and button hook, he was able to pass the puck right to the player the AI shouldve been covering. Ive only seen it a couple of times and im nit picking but boy I wouldve liked to give him a digital slap on the back of the head when I got back to the bench.
The AI on offense is far better now too - they actually 1-time passes you give them in the slot, don't just miss the net on every shot and fumble any deke attempt. Telling them to shoot a slapper on the point is still flirting with disaster, but I've scored quite a few goals with them burying good passes in tight rather than just getting the puck stuck in their feet or bouncing off them into the corner. I haven't seen anything resembling a cycle or good board work, but open ice is better and they don't just stop at the blue line like morons any longer either. They will carry the puck straight in or dump it before it's too late.
It's not perfect but if each year takes this good of a step forward, I'm happy.
